I largely agree, but the FO meddled where they shouldn’t have last season too. Should never have promised Schröder and Drummond starting roles, it threw off team chemistry, the Drummond thing completely lost us Marc. From what we know of Kurt pushing for DeAndre to play this year it wouldn’t surprise me if he was responsible for the Drummond thing either, guy is always there, he’s like a carbuncle (70’s Show reference).

Last 15 games, Russ is at 20 points, 6.6 rebs, 6.5 assists, 3.0 TOV in 34 mpg, 49.4% FG, 36.7% 3FG. He's been alright for well over a month now

There’s 2 sides to the floor though. He’s been fine, but he still never going to work here.

Worst trade ever? I can’t remember a trade that tanked the season so bad.

and playing without at least one of our stars. basically, he puts up numbers on losing teams and couldn't find his way with lebron and AD. just a total failure of a move.

and no, this won't convince anyone to trade for him. they can all see what's happening in these games.

It's going to take some work from all angles to trade Westbrook. No doubt his team has been working channels to gauge any kind of interest around the league. I've seen his fans blaming the team and the organization for his struggles.

Keeping fingers crossed that some team takes the bait.

lol, maybe the vogel haters on twitter can pay some dividends. "lakers are incompetently coached. westbrook will blow up as soon as he's out of there!"

right. if you ignore defense entirely, he was only "pretty bad" instead of "omg make it stop".

Yeah. I stopped posting the advance stats here awhile ago.

Peeps would just post Field Goal percentage instead of his TS percentage as an example and think: "he, he's doing okay.." without digging any further.

    He had a bad year.

Now? Idk what happens. I'll just sit and observe. I'll save my reaction when something materializes or not.

i'd say russ himself has been 25% of the problem

10% of the problem has been injuries to lebron and AD

and the remaining 65% is this team's inability to defend

the roster looked good on paper but it was doomed from the start. everyone overlooked how all those vet min shooters can't play a lick of defense. and the guys who did? well they were dealt to make room for westbrook. all the credit goes to lebron and the FO for that

and the FO is a major problem too. this franchise hasn't and won't go anywhere with rambis and dollar store jeanie running the show. lebron coming over and the 2020 title just masked everything that is wrong with this organization at the top

Don't agree. Lebron and AD missing time is 70% of the problem. We would be in the Utah/Minny mix with them playing, at least.

Then 20% is on Russ. He just didn't fit at all, in many different elements, terrible decision.

Then 10% the roster. We all here commented the lack of size. Almost all, I remember arguing with someone in preseason games because of the lack of rebounding and someone said we would be fine because of our big 3 was good in rebounds and our centers would pick up the rest. I disagreed because of our forwards, we don't have forwards, we have guards.
It was a try to assemble a team of big 3 and shooters.

Which have worked in some areas but people forget it all starts on defense. Warriors big run is known for the triples but it was their defending that made them so good. We were champions because we defended well. And with size. AD doesn't have to play 30/35min at C. He needs to play 15. Is good enough to win games, because we defend well overall and it saves the wear and tear on AD which we need to take care of.

I assembled a potential roster on a different thread with Whiteside, McGee and Howard, plus Covington. Leaving it like:

    Whiteside | McGee | Howard
    AD | Covington
    Lebron | Stanley | Ingles
    Reaves | Monk | Nunn
    Brogdon | Cory Joseph

With Westbrook sitting or traded for Wall who may or may not be ready to play

Hope we go after size and defense but not forgetting shooting.
I think we can make THT for Brogdon. Not sure it can be done, we may had Nunn and something else if needed. No picks
We can't trade picks this offseason. We don't know if we have a future with Lebron and AD. We need to retain those assets and play it carefully. We can't go all in at this stage

they were losing games even when lebron and AD were playing

you can't win games when you don't play defense, no matter who is on your roster

boom. losing your two best perimeter defenders, replacing them with westbrook and vet mins not known for defense along with lebron deciding it was time to stop playing that end = doom.

They were 11-11 this year. Lost this recent game. They were ok when had a run together. 4-2 in the beginning of the season. With some consistency would improve to at least make the play-in comfortably. Since March it's been a disaster. We are 4-15
I don't think we would be battling Pels or Spurs with both playing together all season

the fact that we're talking about "well they would've probably made the play-in game" is bad in itself and just proves how flawed this roster is

Meh...James and Davis played 21 games together all season. Half of those games were coming back from being out. If you seriously don't think that was the single biggest factor affecting this season, then you are simply trolling or don't know jack about basketball.

We sucked without them last season with a supposedly better fitting roster. At least a roster that fitted Vogel's "style" whatever that is. Finished 1st in defense too for all you folks, that think it's all about "Defense!!!". Sucked all the way to the play in game and out in the 1st round. James and Davis turn around and miss even more games this season, but somehow it's everything else but that? BS..f*** some advance stats..what did those stats say last season? Were they predicting a play in game finish, (that we needed a late season push from a hobbled James and Davis to get to I might add.) and 1st round exit? SMH..Man we are snakebitten I guess...1 damn good season out of the last 10!!! Get Bron, AD, Russ and still sucked...somebody put a hex on us.
