Keep it up. Finish strong and give us at least a few positives to roll out there in trade talks.

Home stats: 16.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 3.9 turnovers on 41.1% from the floor, 25.9 % from three on 3.1 attempts and 67.4% from the line.

Away stats: 19.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 3.7 turnovers on 46.4% from the floor, 32.3% from three on 3.6 attempts and 66.5% from the line.

Big difference especially shooting on the road. Not nearly as much hesitancy on his jumper. I guess the home crowd is in his head bigtime.

Why people keep pointing @ a tiny sample size for Westbrook is beyond me.

Now media (Laker Nation) is running vids like "Westbrooks Late Season Surge".

The fact is that for the past 10 games he has:

    17.8 PTS
    35 MIN
    46.5 FG%
    34.4 3PT%
    6.3 REB
    6.5 ASST
    0.3 BLK
    0.7 STL
    3.1 TO

Pump the brakes on Westbrook praise. Still lousy FG% and 3PT slight improvement on TOs, still lousy. Is he killing it on D? No. It's like a surge to below-average numbers.

As I've been saying just need him to give average production. Since he's bad on defense that means scoring at a decent clip and keeping the TOs low.

Add in some size and athleticism in Wayne and Stan team at least looks a decent team and not tma team everyone is dunking in

I don't know man, 46.5% may not be great but man, Jerry West was only 47% for his career, and he wasn't shooting 3's. I will grant you that he is not a good 3 pt shooter, but he is reasonable at mid to short range. On top of that, he does a lot of other things on the court that are worthwhile. What screws him is that he has too many turnovers and when he is playing badly, he rarely adjusts his play and will just keep making bad plays. When/if he can reign himself in a little and not play so out of control, he can be a solid addition to this team. Of course, I can say that about a lot of guys on this team. The problem is not about whether Westbrook has solid skills, he does, the problem is, are they as good as his salary and that answer is no. If we could have gotten him for a year, and been able to walk away that would have been OK, but I don't think he is going to take us over the top. He has not been the third superstar but he might be the third best player on this team.

It's simple....this is a surge! This doesn't happen all the time. We're basking in Russ' glory atm. You're talking about Jerry West's career and comparing it to a one-off surge this guy is having lol. They took a similar amount of attempts Jerry took about 1.5 more and just because 3 of Russ' are 3-pointers...so what..is it that big of a factor? The difference for most players between 3 threes or 3 twos would have a minute bearing on their overall %.

You are also not taking into account that his 2s are at the rim largely, at least West pulled people out 15-17 ft. How is Russ contributing to a spread floor? On either end. Did Jerry West's man just leave him alone like all of Russ' do? Reasonable at mid-range? He's 32% from the free-throw circle range right now. Those airball bank shots? Choice. Let's not compare.

to be fair, the bank shots typically hit the glass (only).

Yeah, you are correct. I was thinking that was his yearly stat. It isn't, his FG% for the season to date is 43.7%, which BTW, matches his career numbers. So, he is a low percentage shooter and appears to be doing what he has always done. I still think this past 10 game stretch is within his grasp, but it is on him to prove it.

He’s still one of the worst defenders to ever play the game. He just pretends it’s not his job to play any help defense whatsoever. One of our biggest issues this season has been a roster constructed of awful defenders and he’s the worst one. If he was leading the League in scoring, he wouldn’t get as much scrutiny.

Guys like Russ feel it's beneath them to play D. It's for the lowly role players to do. He is one of the most entitled-feeling players I have ever witnessed. Saying publicly that his career numbers earned him the starting role here regardless of his terrible performance. It is his choice not to play D. Anyone with his athleticism can play some D. But that won't add to any of his career numbers other than rebounds. He could be a real problem on defense if he chose to be but he is all about the numbers and he will shove those up everyone's a$$es until he is long in the tooth.

Yup- this is why he should never be considered a player with Mamba Mentality. Kobe took pride in playing great D(before his career weakening injuries at the end).

i won't get over his lack of effort on defense this year. there's not a thing someone could say to me to defend his play on that end. just unbelievably bad.
