I've said this since day one, I thought it was wrong when he started producing and became a perennial all star. But IMO he was more of an athlete than a ball player.

lol, hell I thought if the thunder we're to give anyone up it was Russ and that a Harden/KD/Ibaka was a better foundation than what we actually got. I got crucified for it, lol.

I will give Russ props for sticking up for AR. Trent got a little physical with him and Russ wasted no time letting him know that's not OK.

I should bump page 6/7 of this thread when I was upset we did the trade and others were "looking forward" to see Westbrook...

Not the kind of historic season we needed from him

At least it IS historic, right? Managed to handily beat Toine Walker, which is impressive in a way.

well, he hadn't fallen off a cliff when okc traded him. i mean, his stats are basically career lows all over, especially the advanced stuff. he actively harms you on the court and makes 45 million dollars. it's insane. you can't get value from this. he was actually pretty respectable in washington last year, too, so it's just amazing how quickly he got this bad. and it's why nobody actually expected our season to go this way. had he just been who he was in houston/washington, we'd have been in better shape.

wish roland had told us about this!

and that certainly jives with his statements to the press.

i think there's a lot of lip service paid to "not caring what anyone else thinks", but if you don't share aspects of reality with enough people, you're going to have major problems.

Is there a bad deal like Wiggins out there to trade in for? Another guy like that who clearly isn't a 1 or 2 but would be great as a #3.

So badly wanted the Lakers to try to make a move for Siakam when his value was down last year. Now he's back to being good and he's played himself out of these payed like #1 but is a #3 type situation.

lol, i was right there wanting to buy low on siakam. problem is to leverage his huge salary, we really have to keep him until next december, and that just seems untenable now.

Tall, lengthy forwards who can guard multiple positions and you have to respect on offense, who knew they had value in the league?***
Just don't know how Lebron and AD got hoodwinked on this: they literally destroyed WB less than a year prior. Lebron I'm convinced after last year's injuries got trapped in the mindset that they needed a guy to carry the team thru the regular season and then him and AD would carry them in the playoffs healthy. Too bad Westbrook is both a bad basketball player now and a terrible fit.

***I'm still gobsmacked how huge Kuzma looked on the Wiz vs the Lakers. He used to be the 5th biggest guy in the regular rotation and I hardly noticed his size. Now this team is so small that only Lebron looked to be able to physically match him. Just insane how badly team roster construction went: "small ball" was when you had a defensive freak like AD or Draymond at the 5 and then big dudes like Igoudala/Klay/Durant/Barnes, not a situation where a team would purposely be undersized at every position. Guys like Siakam or Christian Wood would really fix a lot of problems on this roster

Russ isn’t any good but if Simmons is going to pick 27% as the arbitrary usage cut off, it would be nice to have more than 4 players out of the 10 listed that actually hit that marker.

smallball with AD at center works--if you play two more big wings with lebron and a big pg who defends. the real issue is that, as houston and washington both saw, when you play small with russ, he's your center on offense. and your actual center better be a deep threat.

i was hoping we'd bring in another gasol type once we got russ and just played big and slow, like vogel would probably prefer.

anyway, it's water under the bridge (water that completely submerged and or obliterated the bridge?) now.

it's gotten so bad that klutch is frantically leaking that they didn't want this trade. right.
