I wonder how Lebron fans will feel when Curry gets to 5 rings and pass him up in the best player of his generation talk. Curry and Warriors are trending in the upward direction.

Just looked at the asg box score. Steph really should shoot 25+ 3s a game. Modern nba is garbage anyway.

curious to see how phx does with paul out for 6-8 weeks. my contention is that he's incredibly valuable to them, and they shouldn't win that much without him. we'll see if winning can be a learned habit here. good thing for them they have a pretty big lead in the standings, so i'm guessing they hold the 1 spot. and honestly, the rest might keep him healthy for the playoffs, as he's often getting groin/hamstring stuff then that's probably due to old age/use.

Phoenix are a well run organization who deserves success. Good coach, good GM, tough geography but have made it work. Even made, so far, a tough decision to not give a max to Ayton, other franchises have done it to Ingram, Fox or Tobias, among others, who are the type of max that won't allow you to reach a top tier position in any conference. It's not easy to take that call, and I think it shows the quality of their management.
Chris Paul's career also deserves success. A hell of a player and a hell of a leader. The way he puts every organization where he's in better than without him, always exceeding the most ambitious expectations is just remarkable. And a joy to watch. He should have had that success with us, that's a real shame.

So yeah, not celebrating this injury.

How did Pau, Klay, McGrady, Carter and Dwight not make it to top 75 but Lillard did?

He’s a top 5 GOAT pg, but I can’t stand watching flopping, dirty players like him.

He has one of the best Js in the game, it's so smooth. His court vision, poise and way to dominate the floor without being the quickest, the strongest, the tallest is just unbelievable to me.
He has his flaws, everyone does. Don't hate him for that.

But I don't hate many people, it's just a personal state of mind

no idea why pau and dwight didn't make it. i know they figured they'd keep the original top 50 players but there's quite a few from that list who i'd put all the guys you mentioned over

problem is that harden has an mvp. it's bs, and the league should be embarrassed that they made him a star, but it's hard to just ignore the paper.

for my money, carter and mcgrady were better players than both harden and lillard and pau was on a similar level.

how they leave dwight off is strange to me. but again, he didn't officially win the mvp (just finished near the top of the voting a few times, sort of like AD in this regard) and got some DPOYs.

Agreed on his talents. It’s just, to me, flopping is a cardinal sin in basketball. I have similar feelings towards Lebron, though he’s largely cut that out of his game in recent years.

paul also has a long history of dirty play, imo. he goes beyond the game, and i know some folks are ok with that stuff, but i don't like it.

his actual basketball game is impeccable, though. he's underappreciated. should have been the mvp last year and should have been further up the ranks this year until the injury, too.

hate how harden got the credit for houston being in contention when paul was there, too. i mean, how obvious does it have to be. they weren't. then paul got there and they almost won a title. and then they weren't again.

phx is in the play-in at best if cp doesn't play for them.

i thought about wcs a while back, but this isn't the first time he's sort of gone awol. i don't think he can be trusted with a consistent role at this point.

i feel like we missed the boat with cousins, though. he's better than dj and always was.

Hard to root for Fenix with both Paul and don’t double team me Booker on the team

yeah, and rob sarver still owns them, which is...yuck. they got lucky in that chris paul still had at least 2 incredibly high quality years left in him (have to admit, i thought no way). i disagree with the above sentiment that they have a good organization that has overcome a poor location. actually, phx has had better luck than most in recruiting FAs historically (weather plays a role, i think), and most of their time under sarver has been pretty bungling, imo.

they're probably my second-least favorite of the title contenders this year, after philly.

if you want to talk model franchises, it's golden state and then literally everyone else right now. they do pretty much everything right all the time and have some deep-pocketed owners who are clearly invested only in winning. it's like if the duncan/pop/buford spurs weren't a small market team with an owner who was afraid of the tax.

I think Phoenix is being well-run. They bet on Paul which was not a given, many doubted, as you admitted, that he would be at this level. Then rounded well the roster with Bridges, Ayton, Cam Johnson. They started going to solid vets like Crowder. Needed a C, went to McGee. Ayton got injured, they got Biyombo who would be a starter with us. They don't have bad contracts. They went to Monty which we should have done when we had a chance. That's a lot of good decisions in a row.

Golden State are also very well run with a good plan. They have a system and are true to it. But a lot relies on having the 2 best shooters in the game ever. And the best glue guy to play with them. I'm curious to see how they manage the transition to post-Curry era
