like 40 or 45.... then re-sign to max deal and never get past the first round.... sign me up. This guy will never be part of a true contender..... never.

It's a desperate move IMO. The Buss' NEED to be in the spotlight and re-building the right way just isn't what they want to do.

I hope youre right lets take okafor. Whats the rush with getting cousins because of kobe? We need to look towards the future. I love kobe but i do t care who we get it'd be a miracle if we won another ring with kobe as our #1

Exactly that's what ive been preaching the last day and a half

Cousins doenst make us a contender he takes 3x as much cap space as okafor and he's never won anything

Hes also a headcase that has ran every coach he's had out of town. Stay away

Spending money on those guys takes us out of the equation for next year's free agents

And that scenario doesnt make us contenders

    Lakers - Cousins
    Den - #2, Landry
Sac - #34, Lawson, Faried, Den Future 1st, Hill

Lakers get who they want, Denver rebuilds like they want with two top 7 picks, Sac gets their veterans they want and draft picks. Moving on.

Yes. That what I would do. The impatient dwell in lottery.

I meant to refer that to post above...

Why are you all even entertaining the idea that Mitch would gut the team? Did you guys actually read what Woj wrote?

The most Mitch will give up is #2 for Cousins or maybe #2/Clarkson for Cousins/#6. While I would rather build with our own group of core guys, this deal would make us more competitive tomorrow which makes sense for the Lakers. They need to be competitive asap to attract big name FAs.

We wouldn't give up Clarkson without the potential to replace him in the draft and we're NOT trading Randle. I think you guys ought to relax a bit.

Worst case scenario tomorrow is us taking Okafor at #2 and telling Boogie we'll keep in touch, but we're far from gutting our team for him.

Not really. The cap will explode and Kobe is retiring. That's 45 some million in cap space.

You either think he's a guy who can lead us back to a finals or you don't. I'll wait 10 more years for the right team.... I've done it 2 times as a Laker fan. The Laker's I've followed for a long time don't play to just be good.

    Not the point, real.

Some of us do not want any part of Cousins and don't understand what is the rush. Just like some here claim that there is no guarantee that #2 will be better than Cousins, there is no guarantee that #6 will be better than JC.

    So...

    #2 Randle Clarkson

    vs.

    Cousins Randle #6

    and the mental boogie baggage.

    No. Do not want.

The fact that we are nowhere near contention and the moves you suggested don't put us there for the foreseeable future?

If we give up #2, Randle and Jordan....

let's just say it'll be very difficult to root for that team they put on the floor and it's a disservice to Kobe in his last season. he's already put up with the likes of Smush and Kwame.

You'll wait 10 years? Glad Mitch doesn't operate from that mindset.

Are you implying that this trade would be like Kareem or Shaq? I don't recall the Lakers ever trading for a guy like Cousins to be their top player..... ever

The most I'm giving up, is one of either #2, Randle, OR Clarkson. None of the combined.

Sure, it does. Cousins allows us with other pieces Mitch adds to field a competitive team this offseason and put us at more of advantageous opportunity too go out and recruit the likes of Conley, Durant, DeRozan, and other free agents that will expedite us into contention.

He wouldn't be. Cousins would probably be the 3rd best player on our team if we added Conley, Durant, or Westbrook the following year.

    Nope. Disagree with you vehemently.

BTW, we also drafted important pieces to our championships - Magic, Worthy, Kobe, even Bynum.

Love this. Daydreaming of a first round match-up scenario where we pay a team like GS, and our young front court bullies the Warriors to 6 or 7 games and make their fans quiver at the thought of having to see those boys for the next 10+ years.
