called out for landing on feet?

i don't know. just seems like people trying to focus angst on a person rather than a situation.

watch the first few minutes of the utah game--in which AD just dominates everyone on both ends and forces an early timeout--and then come at me with trade scenarios.

Eh. I just think you get worse with an AD trade. Outside of like Giannis, Jokic…umm Durant or Embid who are also injury prone…Luka…I mean there’s just a very short list of guys I deal him for. And that’s just me throwing out names.

and I must say I just don’t believe most who say they are fine with the team rebuilding. I was on this board when the team sucked and guys literally threw out trades and complained about players every single day. DLO, Randle, Kuz, etc etc etc all thrown under the bus no matter how hard any of us preached patience.

so I’m highly skeptical that guys (and gals) will be okay with us being terrible again.

I for one would be quite happy to never go on the tankathon site again.

Great post Elgin. Totally agree. I forgot about that horrid tankometer site. Those were miserable days.

Yeah. It was terrible. I don’t know how fans of other franchises do that every year.

@FrontOfJersey22 …. You are correct I do owe you an apology. Just spent over an hour backtracking through every thread from end of the 2021 where I thought the Pau Gasol HOF back and forths might have come up and taken place. Finally I came upon the follow up LeBron bad take first and knew I didn’t need to go any further. Here in the AD thread a couple months ago. I did have you confused with another member here. Had I not done that I would not have replied to you the way I did …. attaching with prejudice those really bad takes about Gasol and LeBron to what I felt is not fair or logical about attributing these two severe but random not his fault AD injuries to being injury prone. So I’m a jacka** for doing that and sincerely apologize. You have a bit of a different sounding longer name here as does this other person, with an even slightly longer one. Am bending over for a good swift kick.

Damn straight! I remember arguing with real on whether Lonzo was going to be a star or a bust. Just depressing days watching Swaggy P and Jordan Hill with some youngins. Who haven’t achieved anything as of yet. I don’t want to go back there, no thank you!

I doubt any of us actually want to rebuild because we know that means the Lakers will be back to being one of the worst teams in the league as they were pre-LeBron.

Unfortunately that maybe the route we need to go depending on what happens in the offseason. If the Lakers are unable to build this team into a contender again then rebuilding would be the best option. The worst thing in the NBA is to be mediocre that is not going to get us anywhere.

Exactly. Half-a-season AD would attract second tier FAs, so we'd be stuck with, like, AD and Beal. Which is probably good for like 6th place in the West.

    No, thank you.

Less and less superstars can stay healthy ... Lakers won't go back to durable excellence until they get one in his prime and not one late in his career like Lebron .

yes, please. AD/beal and the 40-50 million in salary you have around them could be a contender.

That’s my thing here and why I’m skeptical. If AD and Beal aren’t enough then what combo would be?

And we wouldn’t be happy with maybe being 4th through 6th in the west but we would be patient enough to sit through being last in the conference for almost a decade to rebuild with young guys?

And keep in mind, during that rebuild the Warriors and Clippers would be throwing all kinds of money out to completely bury us.

Yeah. I just don’t buy it. And that’s not meant to be an attack. Just being real. We are many things but patient isn’t really one of those.

Please elaborate then, if not wanting to keep AD, (or any of the other trade AD hawks) (@ZenMaster included, if now looking at AD plus Beal or maybe a D. Mitchell + [40M] to spend around them as being a bad plan) …. where you’re planning on coming up with / what the chances are / how much longer it might take than season after next …. this “durable in his prime superstar”?

AD + Beal + 40 mil is not a bad plan. It is not a plan that will get you a championship, especially, and this is the key to all of this "debate" if AD's health continues on its current trajectory, bad luck or not.

We had AD + Bron + 40 mil last season. And those 40 million were probably better than what we'd be able to get again.

    I don't remember a parade.

And I don't have a plan. I am just predicting that the next 10 years gonna suck donkey testicles.

I was back on the AD bandwagon after he came back playing with more energy. That is my biggest measuring stick for a player. Lethargic talent makes me sick. Unfortunate injury but he is a keeper. I think what exasperates our situation is we don't seem to have any clear systems in place. I watch the games and we just seem to wander, especially on defense, we might play well for short stints off of energy but it isn't system driven. Our system seems to be that if we have enough talent we don't need a system. We shouldn't be as bad as we are. I want to see rotations on defense and blocking out. Swarming and harassing the ball at the right times not just randomly. Offensively we need to to cut and move, set screens away from the ball and have players engaged and shooting shots that are good for them. Our team chemistry is missing and I think it is because no one knows what to expect from one game to the another. We try something a few games it doesn't work so switch it up again and it doesn't so we switch again. Our staff needs to figure out what will work best for this group of players and stick with something. I know this is more for the Vogel thread but I did mention AD in the beginning...lol

i've asked many times. again, my conclusion is that the complaining is the point.

if AD and beal is meh, then so is...basically every team in the league right now? except maybe GS at full strength? and gs is going to be dealing with the same thing we will be in that no way curry can keep being what he's been, so they're stuck with a bunch of guys not as good as AD.

If AD gets hurt next season for an extended period of times, would you say he has an injury issue?

Without knowing the GS situation, aren't they in a much better position to trade for a guy like Beal?

Where did I say I wanted to trade AD ?

I'm just saying we used to have superstars in their prime who mainly stayed healthy and it's not the case anymore .

Hopefully AD will be back to his "only missing 15 games a season with minor injuries" shape in the upcoming years
