I didn't even know Haywood was on the Cavs. :D You're not going to fool Pat Riley into signing you, then strong-arm him into trading you where you want to really go, to play with the guy that ditched him last season after making him twist in the wind for a while. Riley don't play that. Your friend seems to have a very creative imagination though.

Going to be tough to pull any of that off without a Wade sign & trade. They couldn't even create the cap space to go after Ellis alone without losing Wade & having Deng opt out of his 10M.

I believe Deng opted out already and I think they plan on doing what Doc just outlined: sign and trade him for cap relief/assets.

Didn't know that about Deng. I also mentioned the Haywood idea earlier today, but I don't see it working the way Doc outlined. The non-guaranteed contract & TPE aren't really assets to Miami as they are essentially the cap space they would have by letting Wade walk. The Cavs would need to sweeten the deal quite a bit. Although who knows, not wanting to pay Wade after he's been the face of that franchise & taken multiple paycuts so they could compete makes them look like scumbags. If they turn around & send Wade where he wants to go without receiving a ton of compensation, they can still come out looking like they're loyal to their stars.

Kobe and D-Wade are close friends. I wonder if that will be a factor for D-Wade's decision to think about signing with the Lakers. I wonder if Gabrielle Union will try to convince him to sign with the Lakers to be close to her.

Riles said recently he'll do whatever it takes to keep Wade in Miami, but both sides still not agreeing on actual dollar amounts. We'll see what happens. I have a feeling both sides put their pride away and figure something out...

For whatever it's worth, if he leaves the #1 name coming up is ours.

He's just putting maximum pressure to get maximum cash. He's not going anywhere and Pat will fill out rest of roster, possibly a trade or two. They got lucky getting Winslow at ten. Only in the east you almost make playoffs and get a top ten pick.

    Dragic
    Wade
    Winslow
    Bosh
    Whiteside

    Solid.

Given their injury history, I'm not sure either of them could pull of those moves.

Hmmm... Lakers strike out in free agency and have to use their cap space, Wade is left without a home wants a big market, and our the Lakers and Wade lock eyes in free agency...

If we strike out on big men...

Wade for 16? Davis for 6-8 million? We'd have a stacked guard rotation that's for sure.
