Agreed. Aside from more Gabrielle Union appearances at Staples Center, I see no more major positives.

I'm actually warming a bit to the idea of getting Wade. Still not in love with the idea, but as I think about it, it's not terrible. Aldridge and Gasol are a pipe dream IMO, plus if we draft Okafor or Towns we will already have our bigs of the future.

Wade is as smart as they come and while he's not a 3pt shooter, he can get his points. We would just need some 3pt shooters off of the bench.

All championship rosters have some veteran FAs rounding out the bench at the end of their careers, but the Lakers have got to stop paying big bucks to every declining former all-star who wants to come here and get injured. It never results in a ring and we almost always live to regret it.

What is even the point of Wade? It's not like he's the missing piece on an almost-contender. Oh, he fills seats? That's the Buss' problem, not mine.

I definitely don't hate the idea. Obviously I'd prefer 1 if the younger FA's like Butler or Middleton, but if we can't land any of our top choices, you can definitely do worse than Wade. If we're going to pay someone like a superstar, they might as well be a superstar. The championship experience & leadership between Kobe & Wade should be great for Clarkson/Okafor/Randle.

Not that I believe multiple sauces on the team interest, but I put this here because I could totally see Riley undercutting Wade here and signing Ellis at the deal he wants Wade to take.

It will be interesting to watch of Miami's interest is real here. If so, Wade to LA picks up a lot of steam.

I saw this too and I thought the exact same thing.

I don't know if this is Miami's way of trying to continue low-balling Wade but this is definitely an interesting development. Now to make an offer for him they basically have to let Wade AND Deng walk this summer. Heck they'd probably try to salary dump Chalmers and Anderson too.

Still though that is something to keep an eye on for sure. If the Heat make a strong push for Ellis, they'll probably get him and Wade is probably out the door.

There's not much they can do. They'd only be able to offer him 3+ million and then they wouldn't be able to after Pierce. It's incredibly unlikely he finds his way there.

Nah Cleveland wants Mo Williams for 3+ million and I think they'll get him...

The only way I see Wade getting to Cleveland is a complicated sign and trade with Love.

Love for Wade came to mind when the Wade drama first started, but I can't see it working since Love would have to agree to the Sign & Trade, & I can't see him doing that knowing they're losing Wade. Cleveland also has Haywood's huge non-guaranteed contract that they could offer along with sweeteners if Miami just wants cap space.

    No on Wade.

If money is his motive (versus just wanting out of MIA) I don't see how he goes anywhere but Miami. They're the only ones who should be willing to pay him. If he wants to take less than $10M I can see him working his way to Cleveland via sign and trade.

Miami is also targeting Ellis. Riley is a sheisty little snake, but he'll make that team competitive again. I think this summer they've got a chance at getting Ellis, Dragic, and drafting Stan Johnson. That puts them in a great place.

Dragic/Ellis/Johnson/Love/Bosh would be a hell of a lineup. I have no idea how to make the contracts work on something like that, but I think that's the kind of shiesty maneuvering that Riley is aiming for.

Don't sleep on Whiteside. That dude is a beast. And Love to me makes no sense for Miami if they really want a shot at Durant as it's been reported.

Oh everyone wants a shot at Durant. Your best shot at him is getting competitive asap. Love makes you more competitive than Whiteside does

Well there is only so much money to throw around with all the guys the will have to pay. And Bosh/Love is the softest front court all time.

I don't think so. I think Bosh is one of the better winners as far as big men go in the game right now.

I'm just saying, just like us, you add a guy like Love if you can because talent wins in the NBA and Love certainly has talent. I'm not going to shy away from Love in favor of Hassan Whiteside.

My friend is claiming that Wade is going to come to CLE via Haywood.

Wade is going to opt in to his deal and then demand a trade to CLE. I cannot see Riley doing that even if Wade demanded to go there. That is a fireable offense in my mind. Just stacking the deck against yourself in your own conference vs. a player (Lebron) that already played you like a fool.

Reasoning for getting Haywood to be the free cap space (Could get that if Wade walked) and a trade exception (I don't know if that would even create one?)
