Lakers don't make that comeback tonight if it weren't for Russ. Some good Lebron/Russ minutes there in the 4th Q

I can honestly say I feel bad for him. Just in the basketball world because his real life is great. In terms of basketball, you can see he is trying his heart out to not screw up and help. The problem is it takes a toll, mentally, game in and game out. Especially when the entire team doesn't f***ing play for 48 minutes.

I think this team could get a triple double from LeBron and Westbrook in the same game and still lose.

    I don't feel bad.

He deserves all he can get.

    Hope he's gone this summer.

He plays 2 good games in a row and some of you guys want throw a parade in a game we lost.

    We're the damn Lakers, man.

Give credit where it's due, but he has been bad for a lot of the season.

Mind you, at the end of the month, if I were just to take Russ and his stats cumulatively in January up until this point, it's embarrassing.

I can't wait until he's gone. Almost as much if not more than Byron.

I think LeBron is over him.
There was a play when we were cutting the lead late in the 4th. Lebron gets a jumpball with Duncan and wins it. Ball goes to Russ who starts sprinting without good control of the ball and turns it over.
Lebron has to foul and he got so mad. It was not about the call because it was a clear one, but I could see him thinking "again Russ???!!"

Westbrook is a good guy. He is just not good enough for a winning team. We knew that. We are looking to adapt him to a different style of play. I wonder if we would benefit of playing his way, while we have him.

I honestly think the same thing. Just a bad roster overall.

That's exactly right. He slammed the ball down in frustration after that.

    Good catch.

That could wind up being a good thing. Russ ain’t going anywhere this season and if LeBron is getting fed up with that kind of turnover in crunch time (of course he has bad decisions there too) …. he’s going to have or continue to have man to man discussions with him. And Russ is clearly trying hard and becoming a better player for it as the season progresses. Russ played well again last night. Miami is much bigger and more talented 1-10 on their roster. That loss certainly was not on RW.

We need Russ to play better to have any chance of trading him. It's possible to trade him but its not a lock in my opinion.

it's going to be an interesting summer, for sure. i think it's possible to unload russ on orl/det/okc/charlotte. those teams will all have money to burn, and at least two if not more will be shut out on the big FAs. but it will take pounds of flesh in any instance, and i'm not sure it's worth it. with how the roster's looking now, i really think hanging on to our future picks might be a good idea.

i'm still hopeful that russ agrees to a drastic salary reduction and a bench role so he can stay in la. this will allow us to start rebuilding our assets outside of the big three. if we can get russ down to 20 per, for example, we have the full MLE at our disposal. a good chunk of that could bring back monk and gain early bird rights, and the rest could go to a harkless-type wing. maybe nunn opts in, and now we have his early bird rights going forward. assuming we've kept THT, reaves, and signed stan, you could return the best parts of this year's team and be set up to actually make trades and such going forward (instead of a full roster of vet min retreads).

i know people are doubting this, but chris paul--fresh off leading the suns to their first finals appearance in 30 years as an mvp candidate--turned down his 44 million dollar option to sign a 4 year/120 million dollar deal. sounds great. but year 3 is only guaranteed for 15 and year 4 is a team option. so it was a 3 year 75 million dollar deal, really. we should be able to convince russ to go for less than that, in other words. the tricky part is the bench role, which would be absolutely necessary if i were managing the team.

And …. gives Russ a chance to get with his team of off season dudes with foam bats on sticks to instead of at the rim, hit him and try to distract him while he practices 3s and bank shots from left of the key. So he comes back a better shooter as well. It just takes until mid Jan each year like the layups for the muscle memory to finally kick in, and he’ll already be ahead of the game having figured out this season it helps lots to not have tons of turnovers. Late bloomer between the ears / sixth man of year candidate going forward for couple years with same type setup as CP3)

    :Magic Brows:

(jk about dudes with foam bats …. but I see you working with plan to start retaining assets rather than blowing more of them to get rid of him)

Per Windy, Russ' status in the league is fragile and that could play in to him trying to be on his best behavior and not get too moody.

Makes sense. They are no real trade partners and with the injuries we haven’t seen what the big three can do on the court. We will soon find out. Hopefully they will gel and get it together these next few months before the playoffs. I believe they will but I think it will take a bit of time to fit and they don’t have much of that facing the NBA’s toughest schedule from here on out and currently in 8th place. They need to start winning soon.

westbrook would still be a superstar caliber player if he was on a team where he was the only star or playing alongside one who is mainly a shooter and they were willing to let him do as he wants with the ball. just look at what he did with the wizards

he's just a bad fit playing with lebron who also needs the ball in his hands at all times to be successful
