My biggest concern would be Kurt and the crew screwing up the process. I most definitely don't want to see Kurt Rambis on the bench!! I'm not afraid of an assistant, it depends on the guy and how he presents himself in the interview.

Coaching a team is more than making good play calls. Specially in LA

Orlando is terrible, we can't possibly lose this game. Mia, BK and Philly...we better not go 0-3.

You throw out names like Delany, Adelman, and Lee because you're a hoop head? Sorry, not buying that at all. You're on a Lakers message board. Pretty much everyone here is a hoop head, but here you go again trying to flex superior basketball knowledge on everyone. Just admit it, you're arguing for the sake of arguing and have no suggestions based on evidence. Why Adelman? Why Lee? You don't just get to throw out random names and say you're "a hoop head" and not expect people here to ask you to back it up.

    Now, if it was Byron?

Byron would definitely be on the front offices list of potential replacements

Meh..I'm rather unconcerned about what you are buying.
You never answered the question either.Did Frank Vogel's name pop into your head when Luke got fired? You are a self professed hoop head.

On the subject of the 3 people you named specifically...

Charles Lee solid prospect..I like him https://crescentcitysports.com/charles-lee-pelicans-coaching-job-may-be-perfect-fit/

    David Alderman Like him too

    https://www.nba.com/nuggets/news/nuggets-like-fathers-like-sons-062120

Pat Delany is an out of the box pick. He has has a background coming up with the heat and with Clifford. Clifford has a top notch NBA mind IMO. He's touted Delany as a legit NBA HC candidate. I'm good with that.

Whatever kid..you just yapped off about how everyone around here were hoop heads too. I don't really care what you find compelling, you asked a question, I answered. Nobody gets paid around here to make any decisions about anything. It's all opinions, that's what message boards are for. If you disagree with mine cool. If you don't like them, you can kick rocks. I'm non plussed either way.

Has there ever been a new hire head coach (not an assistant that get promoted when the head coach is fired mid season) that excepts a half a season contract……lol. MDA would NEVER do that.

i also think it's pretty uncommon to hire away an assistant from another team midseason, right? i know it happens, but generally, when a coach is fired during the season, an assistant takes over or someone who is currently unemployed gets a multi-year contract.

anyway, i'm giggling a bit at steve clifford (a less successful coach than vogel) having a seal of approval or pedigree that lends gravitas to a mentee.

don't get me wrong: i actually like clifford, too, but he's just...bald vogel.

The guy we whiffed on was Quin Snyder.

    He was an assistant here.

    We should have kept him.

    :(.

LOL on the ridiculous blast for saying what I said above. Pot meet kettle and I’ll raise. You are delusional as well for thinking that she would ever do that in reality. Seriously …. Why bring it up? He got his 2nd chances for 9 more years including being reunited on the bench with his boy Steve last year.

if we could only find a great assistant totally dedicated to defense.... a guy so obsessed he has made a set of DVDs. I would for sure go after a guy like that.

Great point about Quinn Snyder LVBD. Wish we had kept him. He turned out to be a solid head coach.

yeah, and there was a lot of buzz about him while he was here, too, so it's not like we couldn't have known he would be capable.
