probably belongs in the melo thread, but that dude has really changed for the positive in the past few years.

and say what you will about our relatively s***ty team, they haven't fractured yet.

Take a few weeks off, you earned it

(seriously if you have cold, yeah it's probably not covid but why the hell would the team risk everyone catching a cold or flu as well? Just stay the f*** home if you're sick)

    Through half a season - 41 games:

    1. GSW - Bad
    2. PHX - Average
    3. MEM - Bad
    4. SAS - Good
    5. OKC - Bad
    6. CLE - Good
    7. HOU - Good
    8. HOU - Good
    9. OKC - Average
    10. POR - Bad
    11. CHA - Average
    12. MIA - Good
    13. MIN - Average
    14. SAS - Average
    15. CHI - Average
    16. MIL - Good
    17. BOS - Average
    18. DET - Good
    19. NYK - Good
    20. IND - Good
    21. SAC - Good
    22. DET - Good
    23. SAC - Good
    24. LAC - Average
    25. BOS - Good
    26. MEM - Bad
    27. OKC - Average
    28. ORL - Average
    29. DAL - Good
    30. MIN - Average
    31. CHI - Average
    32. PHO - Average
    33. SAS - Good
    34. BKN - Bad
    35. HOU - Good
    36. MEM - Average
    37. POR - Good
    38. MIN - Bad
    39. SAC - Average
    40. ATL - Good
    41. MEM - Bad

    Good: 43.9% (18/41)
    Average: 36.6% (15/41)
    Bad: 19.5% (8/41)

The Atlanta game could be viewed as average by some, but I thought his defence was good and playmaking was outstanding. I don't mind if he doesn't score if we play excellently as a team and he is a big part of that.

I would hope as a star he would have about 65% of his games as good, 25% as average and the last 10% as bad over the course of a season. He would need to have 35 good games out of the remaining 41 to hit that mark which would be a real shock with the current sentiment. He can only have 5 more average games and he is all out of bad games.

More realistically I would hope he can keep the 65/25/10% average moving forward. Which would be 27 good games, 10 average games and 4 bad games to round out the year. If this happens, as well as AD and Nunn come back - we could make a strong second half and round into shape for the playoffs.

yes, but if all of his good games keep coming only against bad teams and vice versa, it won't matter much for our goals. of course it also couldn't make your percentages work, given our schedule, so yes, you're right!

You shouldn’t be able to make a lowlights reel this long with only half a season to work with.
    Yikes.

Russel Westbrook is an average basketball player.

You know how it's the idiot with delusions that you should fear? Same deal.

Ok I’ll take the bait. So a career PG averaging 23, 7.4, and 8.5 who leads the NBA all time in triple doubles over the likes of guys like Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd and Lebron is an average player? I get that many folks here can’t stand Westbrook but this is getting silly.

he's an average basketball player this year is the argument.

mid-career westbrook was a destroyer of worlds. late career westbrook is a near replacement-level player taking up over 1/3 of the salary cap.

    upload_2022-1-12_11-49-28.png

people saying he's terrible are overdoing it. people saying that our roster construction being tied up to this extent for a player who's producing like him is a major problem are not.

a few pages back (or maybe in the monk thread), we were debating what russ would fetch on the FA market this summer (or the next). it's hard to fathom a team going over the MLE for him, and if they did, it would be to sell tickets in a place like orlando or something.

i'd love for him to make me look really dumb here. but he hasn't for half the season.

    Where you... what...?

Let me try this once more, as it seems I wasn't clear. Russell Westbrook IS an average basketball player.

over xmas break, my nephew came in town and wanted to shoot hoops. i hadn't in about two years. for the first few minutes, my shots looked like that. but then i got the muscle memory back.

and actually, because some of my shooting mechanics as a young player were like russ's (high elevation, quick stops on midrange jumpers), i relate to those pull up airballs that fall short. that used to happen to me every 4th game or so, i feel like. and i'd be confused just like russ. next one would go down.

but the early clock long bank attempts are just bizarre to me. that's a high degree of difficulty shot that you're attempting without really having made the defense work at all. and you're missing them by a mile. this isn't tim duncan setting up shop.

Traditionally those types of banks are not shot from as far out as his brain thinks is OK to fire them from.

Another way to think about this is what is the opposing team thinking? Forget the awful looking shot but look at what the opposing teams defense is trying to do. They are not sending help or double teams: they are essentially saying go ahead, we are NOT going to try to stop this. We are going to take something else away

    His advanced numbers are terrible:
    upload_2022-1-12_9-46-59.png

Among PG's just ouch (the fact he's been bad on defense is another reason why the average PG argument is being made
