Poor shooting night but he did other things well - pushing tempo, attacking the paint, plus the double double assists and boards.

They were on the team. Kcp played a bigger role. They played their part...like Rondo, Dwight, and Green.

I will take this kind of game, playing like a true floor general over 20+ inefficient points & turnovers. Monk is clearly a superior scorer, Russ can do everything else.

Russ had a great game. Rebounding, playmaking, defence and looking after the ball. If we got this play nightly, we wouldn’t need him to score, he can just set up Lebron, AD, Monk, Melo and our shooters.

He's putting together a very quiet case for All Star right now

I honestly think LeBron and/or Vogel had a man to man talk with him after the hideous 10-11 brain fart disaster 3 games back. Hey whatever it takes …. keep getting through to him and holding him accountable. That **** will kill us. I still value greatly the “good” Russell Westbrook things he adds to the team.

If LeBron wins a title with Kyrie and Westbrook? That right there may put him over the top. Being able to manage those two brains long enough to win it all.

Only Magic and maybe Bird could do that. Not even MJ or Kobe I think could.

I will never get into GOAT arguments because they are pointless, but he is obviously the greatest of his generation.

I didn't look into his net rating but it's interesting that his defensive rating matches the eye test. He has really started to turn it on, on that end. I wonder if this is a sign of things to come, or if his recent poor shooting means he is just trying to contribute in other ways.

Would be great if someone showed him the impact he is having without scoring. In a perfect world he goes back to his offensive efficiency before AD (less shots but high quality attempts) went down and sustains this playmaking and defence. That Russ is the best third option in the league. With Lebron as a top 3 player at the moment, we'd be AD returning to DPOY form away from being a real threat for the championship.

If AD can concentrate 70% of his effort on D and only 30% on offense, we could have a real chance of running the table through the Finals. When locked in, he is by far the best defensive player in the World.

Nice to see everyone finally appreciate Russ. You’ll thank me later that we give him that lucrative extension.

Why … do you have Linda’s ear and dirt on her for “persuasion” and Russ has same on you?

Russell should NEVER shoot the basketbal further than 3ft from the rim. Those "bank" shots are the WORST.

I'd trade him for anyone. Just need him off the team

He is just not a star anymore. Average NBA starter is the most I'll give him. He routinely gets outplayed by the opposing PG.

Lakers have to consider this moving forward. You can't spend your time trying to maximize the output of an average NBA starter versus guys like AD/Lebron. Sure if he was like Morant or Chris Paul or Ricky Rubio guys who've outplayed him sure but Patty Mills also roasted him.

So to maximize the team you have to consider trade options, no automatic minutes, no automatic finishing lineup for this guy. For example, when Nunn comes back there has been a lot of talk him taking away minutes from guys like Reaves how about cutting down on Russ's minutes instead

Again people in the game thread you can't blame Russ for the Memphis and I guess that is true if Russ is on the same level as Bradley, Johnson and these guys who were also bad. That isn't what your supposed to expect from a star and the loss of athleticism has changed the caliber of a player who was really dependent on his athleticism
