So how many pounds of muscle did he put on so he could man up and get his a** more often in the paint like 75% of this board seemed to want? Who thinks they know here without conceding it’s just a guess? 10lbs? 15lbs? (?)

I remember the report of Vogel’s jaw figuratively dropping when he saw AD for the first time, in glee, after his summer of work away from the facility, I guess with his shirt off. Sure as heck didn’t sound like FAT Kareem? Not saying myself that it’s good. I remember Kobe one year yoked noticeably more than usual but he decided early not to be that big again. So if AD is now supposed to drop it maybe that 75% around here will no longer clamor for him to get his a** in the paint? Sure they won’t.

At least no shoulder injuries so far this year as he’s had problems with in the past.

Maybe the best thing to do is scrap the AD at 5 experiment. Since we don't seem to be interested in playing a traditional 5, any kind of significant minutes, focus on a similar type of player at the 4. Grant, Turner, Sabonis, Wood...Bagley on the cheap. I don't know if we have the assets their teams would want, but Bagley could probably be had.

    1. how's your jayson tatum-led squad doing, bro? you guys ok over there?
    2. AD built some muscles polishing his ring

    3. he's right; it's troubling that post-title AD is having his worst two years since his rookie year. that said, i think the first year was injuries and this year was an ill-fitting roster. we can fix the latter, but it will probably have to wait until the summer.

scrapping AD at the 5 means moving on from russ, imo, so no, they're not going to do that. again, at least not now.

They should do it this summer, when finding a taker for Russ will be a little easier.
That being said, I’m not very confident in our F.O. anymore if they are going to continue to listen to LeGM.

gotta hope everyone's learned a lesson from that. i mean, when lebron cooks up the next scheme, even he has to be like...well...this is how the last one went...

Russell Westbrook is going anywhere. If anything he will opt out and sign for a lower amount like Chris Paul. Westbrook isn't the problem anyway. I never understood the thing about AD needed to play 5 because we picked up Russ. Russ has played with traditional bigs everywhere but Houston. AD had played with a traditional big and a non shooter at PG, in New Orleans and here, when we won the chip. This AD 5 stuff started last season when we picked up Trez, and a perimeter oriented center in Gasol. The confusing thing to me is that we traded for Russ on draft night, and promptly went out and signed Dwight and DJ in free agency. And then declared that AD was going to be at 5 mostly. Headscratcher. Fwiw..it's seems like Lebron was down with moving the 3 guys for Russ, but was caught off guard by them letting Caruso walk. Sounds like everybody wasn't exactly on the same page to me. Anyway we have what we have, I wouldn't be shocked tho if we make a play for Grant or Turner. Dj or Dwight will get dumped in the process.

It feels like a cop out to me that signing Russ has somehow damaged AD’s impact. Russ is playing as the third wheel and doing a great job of it - all the spacing issues he creates are overblown, he is shooting quite well and creating a ton of points in transition and the half court.

We continuously try to find a scape goat to blame this on, there is the Vogel needs to be fired camp, the Russ trade was a mistake camp, the AD has mailed it in camp, the Lebron is over the hill camp and so on and so forth.

It could be that we just haven’t had the big 3 play together long enough to mesh and our best role players have been missing for most of the year so we are fielding non NBA players.

i don't like all the scapegoating, either, but you're ignoring the possibility that the big three, given infinite time, may just be ill-fitting parts. and since we know lebron and AD can work...

I’m not ignoring that possibility, I’m just using Occam’s razor to put together the simplest hypothesis.

And because we’re effectively stuck with this team for the season, I’m content to do it and readjust during next off season after a full year of proof, because things can still change in 2/3rds of a season.

I know it’s very improbable that the Lakers trade AD but I think AD’s value is pretty low right now, yet he’s still a top 10 player in this league.

So it got me thinking… are there any players you would trade AD straight up for?

There’s only a handful of players I would actually trade AD for and it’s Luka, Giannis, Steph and Jokic.

The point I’m trying to make is AD is still one of the top players in the league and I actually believe you could build a championship team around him if you truly tried. I’m stating the obvious that this season has been a dumpster fire so far but a lot has to do with the players surrounding AD/Lebron are basically awful fits.

I would even go as far to say our record would be better now if we just never did the Westbrook trade and had enough cap room to have younger more capable role players and depth

AD has had some great games this season, but then he just disappears in others. his shooting has gotten worse with every season for the last 3-4 seasons and now he can't even make a 3. there has to be something mental going on. either that, or it's all that muscle he put on. injuries aside, he just hasn't been the same player since the title

Straight up for Porzingis! Who says no?

if we trade LeGM, AD, and Westbrook, I wonder what kind of team we could assemble.

    probably one over .500

Pressure in LA is game in and game out. Only the truly gifted can handle that kind of pressure year in and year out.

Anthony Davis is turning into Pau Gasol after 2010. Gasol looked burnt in 2011 and was done in terms of his prime in 2012.

It's definitely mental. Mental plays a big part in the physical. You all know this watching the baddest mofo ever when it came to mental and body with Kobe Bryant.

Lebron seems to keep running into second players that can't finish with him. Even Dwayne Wade went lame after 3 years when he should have taken better care of himself. But, that mental thing plays a big part. It's what separates the all timers from the great ones.

I was just thinking AD was a souped up Pau Gasol.

But Pao didn't fall down all the time. And he cared enough about the fans to trim his eyebrows from time to time SMH.
