I've seen this before; it also creates a problem because defenders can sag off him creating congestion in the paint. He also ends up clogging up penetrating lanes when he does that. Much like Jordan Hill last year; I think he needs the right system to exploit him getting the ball on the move and in space where he could thrive at. Wouldn't stop me from acquiring him, though.

Cousins may be traded, but I doubt he's coming here. It's very rare for a team to trade their asset to a division rival. It happened in the Nash deal, but Nash was old and we gave PHX two of our picks to do it.

Interesting if what Windhorst is saying is true. Gives LA the upper hand in negotiations. Cousins has made waves in the past about not being happy, deny him a trade this offseason if he really asked for one and he's going to be a headache all season.

At the same time, Lakers should NOT include Clarkson or Randle in any deal for him. Pressure is on Sacto to make the deal, we can always just you know, draft Jahlil Okafor.

This. Take our offer or live with Cousins being a MAJOR headache all year. We're not desperate. We're not the one without the #2 pick.

How long has it been since we were in a position of not being desperate?

#2, Hill and Young for Boogie and #6

Would have killed to see Okafor play in P&G but you can't pass up on a talent like Cousins.

    Interesting tidbits.

My position doesn't really change though. There's two scenarios playing out here:
    1. The Lakers are in a position of complete power (like Windhorst is saying) and they're now hardballing the Kings. If DeMarcus wants out, we're not about to sacrifice everything to get him. The most we'll offer is our #2 pick and their choice of anyone not named Clarkson, Randle, or Kobe. We'd also demand the 6th pick. If I'm the Kings I say hell no and move on.

    2. There's no trade offer on the table. The Kings are trying to leverage the Lakers for more assets out of whoever they really can make a deal with. I'm guessing they've asked around the league and found their asset is difficult to get a return on because of his attitude. It's a strong draft and not many are willing to throw picks out to bring back a potential headcase. The Kings use the Laker name/threat and some other team ponies up more assets that seem better than Julius Randle and the #2 pick.

Either way, I just don't see it happening. I see the Kings sending Cousins somewhere where he isn't playing them 4 times a year and definitely not to LA. I see the Lakers gladly taking Jahlil Okafor and moving into an era of the Triple Js.

The only thing that worries me about cousins is his attitude

I do the trade as long as we don't include randle or clarkson

No point in trading 3 for 1 because we end up worse than we were

    Clarkson
    Kobe
    ?
    Randle
    Cousins/okafor

    Is better than

    ?
    Kobe
    ?
    ?
    Cousins

If the trade were to go down who do you guys think we target at #6

    Hezonja, Stanley Johnson, Justise Winslow

    In that order.

    agents...

lakers would trade #2 for cousins and #6. kings would trade cousins for randle/Clarkson/#2. tremendous waste of time.

i'll say this: don't get into a game of chicken with mitch. he'll wait you out and get cousins for less when his stock drops, a la pau gasol. mitch is nothing if not patient.

and i'll gladly keep my #2 pick. okafor isn't the natural talent that cousins is, but he seems to have a MUCH better head on his shoulders. i'll take my chances there and let sac continue to wallow.

Exactly were at an advantage here and jim/mitch must be smart and realize we have nothing to lose here

We pick okafor and build around okafor/randle/clarkson and sign a good FA

If its true that cousins wants out ball is in our court and we gotta be smart about it

    #2 hill, young and maybe a 2nd rder for cousins & #6

Yeah I think Okafor is tremendously skilled, but Cousins was has more God-given talent. All that talent though with a .02 cent head doesn't help much. Okafor seems to have a much better head for the game.

Sounds like we're getting agent information from months ago, doesn't it? The two scenarios you point to show me the most basic and preliminary of trade talks.

Agreed. We have all the leverage

If kings say no to our proposal we gladly take okafor and build around him randle and jordan and have cap to sign a FA or 2

No need to gut the team for a hothead like cousins

Hell yeah. We'll take Cousins and Stan Johnson or Mario Hezonja. Heck maybe Emmanuel Mudiay really does drop all the way to #6 and we pick up Cousins AND a player that was supposed to be a Top 5 pick but dropped because he played overseas.

Bottom line is, we're definitely not giving up Randle AND Clarkson for Cousins.

I think we're going to continue to hear trade rumors even after draft night up until the trade deadline. However, I have a feeling Sacramento initiated this trade dialogue. They gauged what the Lakers were put on the table. It wasn't enough and or Mitch doesn't want to give up assets that include Clarkson, Randle, and the number 2 pick, so he went looking for another team with assets to accommodate with a 3-way trade. Coincidentally, it ends up being a GM he's done business with before when Mitch facilitated a 4-team trade to bring Dwight to Los Angeles without giving up Gasol.

I don't know if this happens or not, but I trust Stein as mush as I trust Woj. If the Lakers are 'determined,' Mitch will exhaust all options to bring Cousins aboard...

Don't get too attached to any 'young' assets. We're about 'stars.' It's not good to marry ourselves to any form of rebuilding the Lakers decide to take...

Lol i think theres a 10% chance of it happening and thats very generous but i think most of us on here agree that we only do the trade if we are not gutting our team

Its either okafor with the #2 and sign a FA or trade #2 hill young for cousins & #6
