His knee got injured because a grown man fell all up in it.

the fluke from bubble chip was AD being relatively healthy, its going to be a miracle if he last an entire season at 70-80% health

He’s always hurt that’s the problem.

I liked the Grant idea, he can play 3-5 and he's young. He and AD would be great on defense. Giving up Talen and Kendrick though...tough one. They could be a potent duo on the perimeter with Russ.

I would of had no problem with AD not playing last night and I’m certainly not talking about just 1 game. There have been numerous times this season that AD just doesn’t seem to be engaged. It’s extremely frustrating to see that from a guy with his talent.

Stop playing him out of position then. Embiid is always hurt too. Frankly there aren't a lot of Ironmen at the 5 spot in the league. Tough position to play, if you are relied on to score and defend.

jokic is basically the only star big who's not hurt a lot. and that trend goes back a ways, i think.

i went over this in the offseason, but AD actually plays MORE than a lot of other star bigs. further, he's played more than lebron this year, and he just catches fan ire about it.

He's been relatively healthy for most of his career. Media hype to the contrary aside, check his career stats, he missed more games in New Orleans sitting out after demanding a trade, than due to injuries

Yeah the bad idea of playing him exclusively at center. Think about it...he's " injury prone" at 4, so you have the brilliant idea to play him at 5 all the time?

AD is traveling with the team. That likely means it isn't serious. If it were serious, he would have flown to LA by now.

Got hurt when? Game 5 of the Finals? Like I said..he should have sat out the first half of last season. An Achilles injury is nothing to play around with.

Players do a lot of talking. James and Magic talked about how Lebron was going to play all that small ball 5 too. Then the season came and reality dictated that that wasn't such a great idea. It's reality check time this season, it should have been obvious before now.

my concern is whether the injuries will become a growing trend. I'm totally with you on his injury history being overblown and if he gets that rep, we need to include guys like Embiid and Kawhi in the discussion. I mentioned that I'd at least take calls in the offseason, but I can't even throw out examples of trades I would actually consider. I was just texting a friend the other day that there are only 5 players in the league that I would trade AD for and I think you've presented a similar list in this thread, so I'm not trading for the sake of trading.

We're only 1 year removed from his injury that he played through in the Finals so he could easily return to New Orleans and LA-2020 form, and it's possible my concern is largely a result of him being overly dramatic. Maybe I'm a victim of recency bias, but I'm just tired of expecting him to get injured - or at least appear to be - every time he jumps. As you mentioned, Jokic is the only star big who doesn't get hurt a lot, which makes me wonder if investing $40M+ per year on a center is the best strategy in the modern NBA. I'm not 2nd guessing the contract he got, the team had to do it, but I'm really just hoping he can get past these recurring tweaks and rolls seemingly every night.

who knows when he got hurt but that last yr injury plagued season was apparently cause he didn't have a full off season to heal, which he did this past offseason but now the "reasoning" hes getting hurt again is cause hes playing to much 5 and idea he himself embraced
