He’s not a 7 foot player as is posted often. He’s 6’10” or closer to 6’10” than 6’11”. KAT taller and stronger and heavier I’m willing to bet and equally skilled. Age old similar skills big men typically beat more often than not smaller men same skills range. KAT a true center and AD is not. He was trying far as I could see to stop him defensively and getting beat. Everyone pissed off at that here and saying KAT shouldn’t be able to do that down low, especially since he made the shots whether being defended best as AD could … I don’t think is being realistic and your anger doesn’t make AD on the block any stronger.

show me the defensive player who, in isolation, stops towns even as often as AD did last night. name him.

there's a reason towns has averaged 25/12 for most of his career on efficient shooting. it's like people have never seen him play. and he was mic'd up for what is probably minny's only nationally televised home game.

a very good player was especially geeked up and had a good game. it's not why we lost.

It’s not just the weight advantage. Something is gone that was there before- a desire to be great.
We have not seen it on a consistent basis since the Bubble.

This is what frustrates me. It’s his time to BE THE MAN and he’s completely wilting.

SMH...folks were simply exaggerating how great AD is on defense, against bigs his size or bigger. He was never that dude in the first place. He's a power forward, not a center. He had problems with size on defense during the championship season. I don't understand which games people were watching, to come up with this AD the monster 5 stuff. Yeah...in small ball against some guys his size or smaller, negative against natural centers. On offensive..yes.. he can score against bigger guys, he doesn't rebound as well though.

The AD should be locking down everything in the paint on defense crowd.

it's hard to overstate his value on defense, tbh. but i agree that relying on him to defend huge post players with no help isn't the right plan. funny thing is: he actually did ok at it! he's done ok at it against jokic, too. but there's a reason literally nobody lets these guys just take four dribbles in the post and get to a hook or up and under. this isn't the 80s.

btw, i'm sure AD was tearing up looking at how open that paint was for 3 and 4 seconds at a time. on the play he twisted his ankle i think he lost balance because he was fully expecting to run into a body sooner!

He is effective in stretches or even a game or two. If you make it a consistent thing on a nightly basis, he's going to end up on the sidelines. I wish we had saved that strategy for the playoffs, not make it our focus for the season.

i'm with you, but people need to remember that russ is essentially a 5 on offense because he's such a non-threat from the perimeter. and our only other 5s are also complete non-threats outside of the restricted area. when we start a 5 AND russ, AD essentially becomes a sf on offense, which is untenable.

another reason i wanted a gorgui dieng instead of a deandre jordan.

When we signed Dwight and Dj, I thought we were going back to being big and physical like the chip season. However it is looking more like, we want to emulate Golden State and Phoenix. Spread the floor and launch jumpers, with one big with some mobility as the 5. Thing is...Looney and Ayton are true 5's.

It's not about Westbrook, he shoots better than Schroeder or the guys that played on the championship team at the point. Bradley was our starter for the regular season that year. Rondo played a lot in the bubble. They couldn't shoot from the perimeter either. We miss size at the 3 and 4 spots more than anything. That's what's hurting the defense and rebounding. Melo is strictly an offensive player now, Trevor hasn't played at all. We actually miss Morris and Kuz's length this season IMO.

Ring counts more to me. We had the best record in the league before play was paused too. It wasn't a fluke. Everybody had the same amount of rest and no travel. AD should have sat out the first half of last season. They say he had pain in that Achilles from just walking in the preseason. Bad idea to try and play through it, that might be why the training staff got fired.

AD is supposed to be top 5 in the league, Kat isn’t even top 20. What AD is missing is not skill, it’s heart and fire. If I had a guy going at me constantly and scoring, I’d be a lot more engaged than AD was.

The guy had just sat our two games for knee soreness, then injured the knee when he played. Maybe he should not have played at all. These guys aren't machines.
