yeah, we (and more importantly they) are not doing this, but it's a no-brainer to me, too. i agree that way too much has been made of a playoff series. i don't think philly is a very good organization, and i think simmons will re-prove himself whenever he moves on.

    also, i love defense.

I don’t hate what you said at all, but I’m a bit terrified of a guy that refuses to shoot the ball. I think I’d rather have a guy that takes some terrible shots, but shoots respectably on catch and shoot (which I think Russ has been doing for a while, though I could be wrong). I understand the premise of a Russ for Ben swap, but I just think the offensive space would be even more atrocious that it outweighs the defensive improvement.

Mr Trick or Treat: fluctuates from outstanding to bonehead even in the same play. Remarkable really.

If he sits out a full year over being butt hurt, he is really going to hurt his value.

That pass was perfect! I’m still loving our trade for Westbrook and would do it all over again. Kuz Trez and KCP for Russ? Well worth it. Love that he’s figuring it out and contributing in a big way.

Simmons is an equally bad fit. But cheaper and younger. I doubt Philly wants any part of Russ.

Simmons wouldn't solve our problems but he is certainly a more attractive commodity than Russ around the league.

Not sure how true that is since no one has traded for him and he is literally sitting at home playing video games. I think Simmons has done quite a bit of damage to his value.

well, that was the point. and i don't think that's it. there were good offers early that philly turned down because they wanted lillard. they may get him now, as he developed back issues in the process, so they win i guess?

anyway, even after the damage, simmons carries more trade value than westbrook for sure, imo. he'd be a similarly bad fit here, but i'd argue he makes fewer mistakes and plays much, much better defense (how does russ get so tied up on screens with his size and athleticism?).

again, not happening for many reasons, but i think simmons is just a better, more useful player at this stage in their careers.

    The pass was great.

I heard a stat on LG that Russ is shooting over 50% from the corners on his 3-ball.

Rewatching the play, though: it looked like as the ball swing around to Russ that Ellington's defender wasn't leaving him; so while Russ collapsed the defense, Reeves was the one they wanted taking the shot.

Russ made the right play and Reaves hit the shot. Ideally, that's how I would love to play. With 2 shooters and 3 guys who can get downhill and out pressure on the rim.

Of course you can run alternate actions and such, bit it's really beautiful basketball. I hope we see more of it.

Started sloppy, but thought he settled in as the game went along. Cut down on the early TOs. Had some good drives. Hit the 3rd biggest 3 of the game. And setup AR with a perfect pass for the game winner. No real complaints on this one for Russ.

i only saw the second half and OTs, but it was a pretty typical russ game, in which i went back and forth between "he's keeping us in this!" and "he's taking us out of this!"

Rumor is we are signing Isiah Thomas until at least Westbrook comes back.

Anybody that had it was all in with everyone else last night with Reaves in the craziness and hugging and yelling in each other's faces. We're effed I think. If they hadn't already caught it from our first guy to catch it, that had to seal the deal. Westbrook right in the middle of it too. Locker room further hugging and all that. AY Yai Yai Yai!!

You know why playoff basketball is different. After that play, did they post Lebron up?
Even the Mavericks went away from Bruson running the PnR (or was that just Krystaps being stupid)

Russ and Carmelo were the last two guys who played all the games so far this season.
