    No way. Surprised you even entertain it, at this point ESPECIALLY, after the careers and championships and years in the P&G that Kareem, Magic and Kobe had. Not even logical.

    When you get the tag, greatest basketball player ever, you cant put a player on that list, at the top, who had weaknesses.

    Lebron has too many weaknesses to be #1 all time.

    If LeBron wins in 2011 and 2014, you can argue it.

    But I saw Jordan and Kobe play. No one is better at basketball than those guys. I don't know how good wilt was, I wasn't around. But Wilt lost too many big games to be the greatest.

    Kareem has an argument but he is a center and centers can't be the greatest, they don't handle the ball.

    Magic and Bird were the best ever with B athletism.

    Kobe and MJ were freaks with the work ethic behind it.

    Lebron is a freak but he has had too many mental midget moments in his career.

    Most accomplished? Sure. Best basketball player ever? Never.

    MJ =1
    Kobe = 2

    After that you can throw whomever you want.

    I think you're talking about technical ability here. Many criteria can be used for "best basketball player ever". But I don't think that many people outside of Laker family would rank Kobe over Bron all time. He is universally seen as top 10 ever, often grouped with Shaq and Duncan, for example.

    Anyway, why is this in AD discussion?!

    Let the season play out. If we don't win get rid of AD, Lebron and Russ.

    Kareem is the Goat. Roll the dice for any order for MJ, Kobe, Bird and Magic. I will defend Kobe being on that list by strength of will alone.

    Might as well change this thread to miscellaneous

    I come here to check in on AD return and so far we've gone from Fat Marc is the basketball equivalent of a retired sloth to Andre Drummond is second coming of Wilt just if you count all the stats he gets from missing his own layups to Michael Jordan getting personally offended by this GOAT conversation

    So…AD isn’t the GOAT, but only because he chose to play center this year. Got it.

    Things get said and reacted to in normal conversation. Can't always stop and agree to take it to another thread. C'mon now. If it continues to get belabored, as sometimes happens .... then yeah you have a point. It's not hard to scroll through the several comments to see we have no update on AD. But yes since no news and there's been a lot of just off the cuff off topic comments, then there have been replies. And some reminders about it too. You have a point. It just happens sometimes.

    Take it to Lebron's thread and post that if you really want to die on that hill because you hate him. Mods will rightly step in here as a lot of off topic from AD comments. But that's just one of the most outrageous, indefensible NBA takes I have ever read. See you over there to defend to this site he's only in the conversation for greatest because of that.

    Can you not read, or you just don't give a bleep?

    We are BOTH off topic here with this now. If it keeps being belabored here.
    I'm not a mod. I just know the hammer is coming.

    AD is amazing, like so many players before him.

    to be in the GOAT conversation, there intangibles one must have. The intangibles that matter most seem to differ from fan to fan

    There are many GOATS at different things during their careers. Maybe AD ends up being the GOAT at something, but that’s a conversation for another day.

    but the All Time Laker GOAT to me?

    [IMG]

    The Lakers have been lucky to have so many All Time greats. Hopefully AD earns his spot among them for the next 10 years.
