I don't expect 6 steals that often, but if he can keep up that level of activity and interest defensively then he'll deserve his money and PT. Just not sure that's in LA or somewhere else.

it's tempting to trade him and go all-in on this season, but thinking more rationally, we should keep developing him and only trade him when his stock is at an all-time high, next summer at the very least.

I will understand if they trade him now, but it will compromise the future of the franchise IMO.

i don't view it as that big of a deal. THT is unlikely to become a perennial allstar. but it's a bad look to let AC walk and then trade THT in a win-now move. at some point, our draft and player development folks are just going to quit and move.

if THT goes, it better be for a big deal. and we better win. because while he's unlikely to be a superstar, we're also highly unlikely to replicate his ability and production at his salary.

Exactly. Essentially, you chose THT over AC.

It wouldn't make sense to me to trade him.

I also think he adds some nice utility to this team when he has it going.

He's one of those pieces you include in a deal when you're getting back a perennial all-star.

    And Grant isn't that.

I wouldn't do the deal now having given it a little thought.

I don't know before the Russ trade I probably would have pulled the trigger for THT/AC for Grant trade. Grant fills the need this team has been desperate for: another athletic big wing that can shoot and score.

Both THT and AC weren't sure whether they would be used in finishing lineups for similar reasons: unreliable shooting and big wings shot over either (i.e. Harris pullup over AC last year was depressingly easy).

In other words a lineup of AD/Ariza/Grant/Lebron/Russ would be a horrific nightmare for most teams on defense and to guard against.

^^^ you mean after the Russ trade. Disagree there though would MUCH rather have had AC and THT over Grant. Bring in with the minimums one or 2 less SGs and another decent big wing in addition to Ariza instead.

    Spacing would suck.

I'd imagine Grant playing a 3/4 role next to AD and LBJ.

The biggest benefit would be guarding the opposing teams best wing nightly and in a PO series.

Of course he has utility on offense, too.

I still would be hard-pressed to do it.

Let's see what we can find in the buyout market, IMO.

Covid-19 is rearing it's ugly head again, I hope this doesn't turn into a widespread issue in the league.

F***! Again. Hope no one else caught it from him. Start Ellington in his place and give all his minutes to AR. Bump him to 25-30 going forward. Already played 28 the last game. Shouldn’t hurt us badly unless he infected others.

supposedly the newest variant is even more contagious, hence the bulls being a skeleton crew. seems likely we'll be looking at a similar fate.

hey, maybe we can actually forfeit the phx game!

I've heard the newest variant is not as contagious. Then again, when you factor in millions of people with different types of immune systems, do we really know?

California is going to put another face mask indoors policy tomorrow for a month. We will see if that will help. At this point, pandemic is going to be our lifestyle because some people think slowing it down will eliminate it. It won't go away, either you shut down the country for a month where no one leaves the house or it will never go away. Vaccines aren't working.

OX, it's the opposite. Supposedly more contagious but not as severe an infection from everything I've heard and read.

Everyone on the Lakers is vaccinated. They did a show about how Pelinka had to convince some of the players to trust it. And they did.

Develop him much more and trading him becomes a moot point as he'll be too good to lose. I don't agree with trading him now either.

I don't remember it being officially confirmed. To me -- I see no reason to not state it outright if you are, which means he isn't.
