drummond wasn't better than gasol and he didn't really even contribute more than DJ has so far

all he did was miss layups and turn the ball over. he wasn't even his usual 10+ rebound self because he showed up to the team out of shape and the toe injury he suffered in his first game might have played a role too

Dude averaged 12 pts and 10 rebounds in 20 minutes a game here. He played 21 games in LA. If that is to be construed as terrible, I have no idea what you folks are talking about. If Dwight or DJ produced at that level you would be ecstatic. Gasol avg 5 pts and 4 rebs in 20 minutes...complete utter garbage.

Ah yes, the end all be all indicator of talent, quality, and value, stats. Nobody every put up empty stats before.

In 20 minutes? If those are empty stats Gasol's stats were non existent. I'd take 12 and 10 from DJ or Dwight right now in 20 minutes. You can call that " empty" all you want. Ridiculous take.

Drummond is capable of getting 3 rebounds on one possession, because he bricks shots and layups so much he just grabs his own rebound. So yes, those are pretty empty stats in context. Someone like Marc had value beyond the box score, spacing the floor, smart defense that may not even result in a credited block, swinging the ball around and getting a hockey assist. What’s ridiculous is still having this discussion so far after that team hasn’t been together, as well as basing all your value of someone on a box score without taking into account context of the game and how they actually played. It’s also ridiculous to link Drummond or Marc’s suckiness together. One can have sucked and the other been good, both could have sucked, or both could have been good. They have nothing to do with one another, there’s zero point in knocking Marc to prop up Drummond.

Hate to say it but that bird has flown. Neither Drummond or Gasol are still here. We have Dwight and DJ to carry the center load. Dwight can pretty much do what’s needed, DJ a little less so. Start Dwight, give AD about 10 minutes a game at 5, give DJ the rest (25, 10, 13). It’s not rocket science.

Stone hands Drum vs washed Marc isn’t relevant any longer and neither one was a great fit, ergo they are gone.

Gasol sucked period IMO. I don't know what games you were watching. It had nothing to do with Drummond. It was actually the reason Drummond was signed. It was the reason we tried Jones and Trez got the minutes at 5 too. It is very convenient to ignore the box score, when a player is putting up sorry numbers. I watched the games, evidently the FO did too, that's why they wanted to replace him. You can't tell me what I'm basing anything off of. Rebounds are more important to me, than " spacing " the floor by putting up 2 shot attempts a game. Anyway...both are gone...I made a comment on Gasol, and his fan club comes out of the woodwork...I don't care, he still sucked to me.

Please stop saying things like “ridiculous take” and “Gasol and his fan club”. Just because members don’t agree with you, does not invalidate their opinions. You can state your case without taking shots at people.

Re: Jones on the 10 day and Trez having to get minutes at the 5 outside of his normal sub pattern, again you forget or choose to ignore Marc had to be out at that time for a bout with Covid and then the time to work up his conditioning for a period following, compounding our problems with AD missing games.

Marc was trash at 100 percent LT...that's what I saw. He was as slow as an iceberg, couldn't jump 2 inches off the ground, didn't rebound, and was pretty gun shy on his jumper at 2 attempts a game. The perceived intangibles and " spacing " he was supposed to bring never materialized IMO. AD ended up out on the perimeter next to him hoisting a lot of jumpers, without Davis, he was pretty much useless. I digress...he's gone..thank God....I wish we had kept Javale.

Davis is out another game, maybe Frank will figure out how to use the true centers on the roster. Then again, Lebron might play 5 tonight. IDK

I was only telling you again “why” Jones came in when he did and Trez had to do extra duty. AD was out and Marc was out. We needed bodies, vs your narration of the timeline and your trash opinion of him. I know all that ad nauseum. But you’re welcome for the opportunity to get it all in again. Many of us saw something different with value in some important areas vs your he was “useless” take. But thanks for the hyperbolic takes as well with slow as an iceberg and couldn’t get two inches off the ground.

pistons and cavs fans warned us about how bad drummond is

he's the literal definition of empty stats. don't let those 20-20 games fool you. he's great for your fantasy team but he's not much of a difference maker on any team, as you can see by how those pistons and cavs team performed over the years. he's not even a starter anymore. that should tell you a lot about his value

Gasol is out the league, that tells a lot about his value. For 20 minutes a game on a minimum salary. Drummond was a bargain. Detroit and Cleveland aren't exactly known for making good basketball decisions. Philly seems to like him. I'd take him over Jordan.

Slow as an iceberg and couldn't jump 2 inches off the floor. Yep..said that...meant every word. Many of us obviously saw a lot of different things in regards to last year's team. I didn't see anything good from Gasol, besides the fact that he had 6 fouls available. That's cool...they all failed to get the job done. Changes were made..on to this season.

Gasol is out of the league because he's old and slow. But even then, he was better than Drummond was

I thought this was the AD thread?

Any word on when he's coming back?
