I agree that last year he also built the defensive success of the team and that KCP and Caruso were not the defenders they are now compared to one or two seasons ago.
Maybe he can do that with THT and Bazemore or Nunn and we have a strong closing lineup

Our offense ( including TOs) and defensive rebounding are bigger pbs than the defense itself.

He’s starting to lose me. “LeBron you do it” is not an offense, and LeBron is showing that as he takes iso after iso, he’s too old to run an entire offense, we shouldn’t ask that of him. Also he starts THT, and it turns him into a spot-up shooter, makes him have an invisible first quarter. So what does he do after watching that? Puts THT back in for the 2nd with that same exact lineup. Lastly, Bradley has been BAD for a while now, yet he keeps starting, and Vogel puts him on Tatum. I’m not an NBA coach, but I know you don’t put maybe 6 foot 4 inch Bradley on 6 foot 8 Tatum. Come on.

I’ve been critical of Vogel and my thoughts haven’t changed. He should have added an offense guy to the staff

obviously Vogel has to bear some of the fault, the roster isn't good, but we still should be playing a lot better than this.

You could have both 2 Monk and 2 Bazemore type players and they are still not going to have the impact of Melo and Russ because of their role on this team. So not having any say in both Melo and Russ is a BIG deal.

I get it, but who else was gonna guard Tatum? 37/38 year old Lebron or 37/38 year old Melo?

Maybe they shouldn’t be so cheap and signed Ennis for defense. And yeah, of who we have I put LeBron on Tatum, that’s why he makes the big bucks.

Frank might not survive this road trip if he doesn't wake up soon. Even if he does survive, and he should, he's going to be on thin ice moving forward.

You have to scrap this AD at the 5 experiment IMO. Start Howard instead of Bradley and play him more than 10 minutes a game. We need more physical play on the front court. Too many 6'4 and under players IMO. Rondo and Bradley need to be glued to the bench for the foreseeable future. Bradley is 6'2, I don't understand why we signed him, he's too small and he doesn't score consistently.

The issue is: there isn't anybody out there better than Frank on the market.

If he does get fired, we'll be in a worse position.

In principle you can't fault the guy for having to deal with the missfits.

My problem with Vogel is that he probably was consulted before the trade for Wussbrick was approved to. So as much as I think he can't do better with the damaged goods he has been given, he has also approved the deals that were made. At least I hope so.

Insisting on a "dynamic" playmaker and going for Russ instead of other options was an incredibly dumb move, which I ranted about right away...it simply doesn't work.

Ever since Magic was signed this team ignored chemistry and shooting. From the very beginning they went after "tough" defenders calling shooting a "trap game". When you go after scrubs like Rondo, Howard etc....that's what you deal with. But when one of those guys also tends to play 35 mpg and have the ball in his hands, you are in major trouble.

Vogel does the best with gritty teams that defend. The Pacers with preseason P and Roy Hubbard defended. The meme team championship team defended with KCP, Caruso, Dawite helping cement that idea with Ludabrow leading the way defensively. Even Kuz bought in.

Then Rob trades away our defensive identity for the 44 million dollar Smush Parker who looked horrible in the bubble just over a year ago even though there were other options that were a better fit.

Now we're stuck for the foreseeable future. That isn't Frank's fault. Now some of the lineup decisions, such as the Rondo Smush lineup, that's Frank's fault.

    When does Reaves get back?

Start him @ the 2 to replace Bradley.

    Get LBJ back to SF.

I'd probably go with Melo @ the 4 keep AD @ the 5.

Bradley is probably one of the worst starters in the league from ana analytics perspective.

    Time to bench him.

I heard Phil Jackson isn’t very busy right now.

I wonder how the triangle office would look like with this team and also in this era

The thing is that Westbrook didn't have anything to do with the defense getting cooked last night. Schroder had all of his 21 pts by the 3rd and Russ wasn't the one guarding him. Bradley the gritty defensive type of player you mentioned that Vogel likes, got slaughtered in the 2nd half. Frank didn't play Howard and went with small guys around AD or Lebron, and we got punished for it. Vogel has a large chunk of blame that deserves to be laid at his feet too. Bradley has been getting smoked for a minute on the perimeter now, Rondo is a worse defender than Avery, but he is playing them over Howard for some reason. The idea that a 6'2 Avery Bradley was a viable option to defend Jayson Tatum was terrible , lack of size on the court is the problem with the defense IMO. Yet he does have available options to address that, but he hasn't done it.
