i'm less sure about that, but i don't think we have enough of the right kind of data points to say that's impossible yet.

    Understood.

I thought we made it work yesterday pretty well.

    Either way, it's early.

And this the hand we've been dealt for better or worse.

It seems to help, as long as the players receiving the ball are making decent and consistent % of their shots, when Russ (as he seems to have been doing last few games while figgering it out) ..... plays more like a "pass first" PG rather than a "scoring/dominating" PG. In the flow of doing that, same as with THT now, those openings for domination and his unique physical abilities will present themselves many times anyways. Always. Just because of their quickness and strength.

I think Russ and Talen work well together. Talen has played better than any guard paired with Russ, and it's only three games in. Russ is still a top notch facilitator, Talen gives him a another reliable scoring option to get the ball to. Russ makes the correct passes most of the time (he should have had 20 assists) Tucker is playing off of him pretty well IMO. Not having to be the main set up man, has allowed Talen to do what he does best, attack the basket and just be aggressive on offense in general. He will make a good pass too, but his scoring and attacking the paint is his strength.

This. I think quite a few people like to criticize Russ, but don't realize how good of a facilitator he actually is. Have to give him credit there.

As well, in spite of his typically too high a turnover ratio, while looking to distribute and make the passes, I think Russ has some really good handles in the half court game. Compared to when he’s pedal to the metal.

He can pass the ball. He just makes passes sometimes that I’ve never seen high school players attempt because they know they will be picked off. My biggest issue with him is his desire to grab rebounds instead of staying close to his man.
sure, he can rack up the assists, just as well as he can the turnovers.

He will. @Slick2021 has guaranteed this. And never once offered to eat crow if wrong. Ergo he deems that totally unnecessary to say.

Did you just have a schizzo episode there?

    :D ;)

A number of years back I was in a long line at the post office to ship a package. I kept hearing this indecipherable and uncomfortable low volume conversation between two females behind me. One was kind of defensive and whimpering sounding and the other was gruff and aggressive toward the first. Again, not real loud but close behind me. After 3 or 4 minutes of this I had to turn and sneak a peak and it was one person. I put more space between myself and her and kept the corner of my eye open after that. :D

I would argue he does 1 & 2 right now. He also does too much of no. 4 and could probably tone it down a bit and he doesn’t do enough of 3. But let’s hope!

Oh. Seems I went off on tangent for nothing. FOJ22 wasn’t splitso there …. just giving his criteria.

I never did say he does everything terribly- just decision making(too much of the time), non existent off ball defense, jumping in the air while passing, shot selection, and three point shooting.
