omg. this is exactly what i've been saying for several months on this forum to no avail. lakers yunowin? injuries. period.
That tribute video was awesome. They really put some work and search for great clips in it. Hope he appreciated and enjoyed it, plus will always have it. Didn’t see much in the way of smiles or tell on AC’s face while it was running. Maybe was embarrassed by all the hoopla. I figured the Lakers would do something nice and classy for him.
Hey Lebron, you know that guy you’re hugging in the picture…he could have still been on our team if you didn’t want the 44 million dollar man.
Man that was ridiculous. We have no one on our current roster who can do that to guards. AD can do that to certain players, but not guards, and we miss that like hell.
The sad part is, it's all effort... and we got none of that. When u work hard on your conditioning, you can be a badass on defense.
hustle/effort is a skill. too many people--including, apparently, our front office--fail to recognize this. it's hard to lace them up with that kind of intensity night after night. honestly, our current roster contains zero such players. none. that should say something about the value of the skill.
I could play D like that, i was tought that way. There was this one guy in my city i HATED with a passion. Whenever i played against him, i needed a puke bucket every 8 to 10 minutes. He wanted to quit basketball after every game against us though, so i did the job well
this was my specialty, too. i liked playing defense. my friends/teammates didn't understand it. but i was always picked first because nobody wanted to play against me. this is why when i hear people say vogel should just scheme 'em up to be a good defensive team, i'm like....no...it doesn't work that way. a good scheme might hide one bad defender...might. you need the right personnel, and we do not have it. even recently when vogel said the defenders are going to play...good luck. ariza may or may not be himself this year, and reaves is a rookie who's already gotten hurt. vogel is forced to play guys who just don't have it defensively, which means no system is going to be fully effective. i've said it in other threads, but i think this is why AD has started backsliding--he's seeing that no matter what he does, he can't cover for everyone. so why bother? it's not a great attitude, but i understand it.
puke ... bucket ... man my first HS coach woulda loved you. favorite saying was "reach down in the old gut bucket and go to work!"
Not saying he would solve all our problems but he would have solved a lot of them. Half of our dozen guards would be rendered useless and those roster spots could have been used to fill other holes on the team... say wing size and small center.
Exactly. I came here to look at the Luke Walton thread after he was fired. Saw it, got angry and clicked on this thread. I need to stop.
