AD seems to be getting his. It's not his play that bothers me. But he's not a leader. He doesn't galvanize a group. When Lebron retires, we will need to find not just a star, but a certain kind of star.

Damn, pulling this year's stats to say Embiid shoots 4 threes a game or he averages 43.5% is dishonest man, he's playing alone and being double teamed everytime he gets the ball.
And I wasn't advocating for Embiid as the ultimate alpha, the guy had terrible performances in the playoffs against Toronto. He had a game with 0pts if I'm not wrong
But he plays a more dominant type of basketball imo.

I was talking about AD being the MVP in LA. The setup is for that. Lebron cruising, racking up assists and AD being the go-to guy, dominating the game down-low. All the schemes and rotations are made around AD. He has been great but not MVP level as he should. Do you disagree?

Tim Duncan said that a leader is not the guy yelling the loudest or talking the most. It was the guy everyone looks to at the end and says "I'm following him".

Calling AD a "beta" is not fair. Talent wise and impact wise, he is an alpha from a personal performance perspective. But he doesn't have that "it" factor that makes players want to follow him through anything.

You can win a championship with AD being the best player on your team. I believe that. But your second best player better be a bona fide leader. I think AD and Chris Paul for instance with a proper supporting cast could challenge for a ring (injuries permitting). No one would argue that at this stage of their careers CP3 is better than AD. But whoever we place with AD post-Lebron is going to have to have strong leadership qualities.

I think it would work if you put AD in Giannis place. If we could snatch Holiday or Conley/Lowry and a guy like Middleton or Butler/DeRozan, it's a Championship team. We'll be fine

As long as we bring Caruso back

    P.S: I would LOVE Jimmy

so, you want a ballhandler as your star. ok. i like a defensive monster who also can't be defended in isolation.

love was great that year. it was like having an AD that doesn't defend at all! love was so good that lebron demanded him to get back to cleveland, actually.

disagree. he's the biggest guy on the floor every night and shoots perimeter shots. BETA.

absolutely false. we built a lebron team, which makes sense.

    yep

    jimmy+AD would be fire.

    i like the energy.

That's what I am talking about, AD. Very very nice game. Wish your other running mate wasn't that dumb. Thank god for Melo.

Vogel needs to tighten up on his play calling down the stretch of games too. Guys are standing around watching AD and Russ go one on one too much. Melo was on fire and he didn't even try to run some pick plays or anything to free him up as a decoy. It was stand around until one of the guys give you the ball.

Looked like his cold was still bothering him early. But cranked it up as the game went along. 'Do helped get him going in the 3rd

    Big time game -- 32/12/5/4/3

Just can we stop with the 3s and the Kobe shots? Pretty please

Nice overall game for AD, but taking a contested three and leaving time on the clock for the Hornets in a tie game was infuriating. Terrible decision making. The airball was just icing on the cake.

Honestly that should’ve lost us the game. I did think we fouled on the rebound before Charlotte called timeout.

Strength isn't one of his advantages and yet, his critics want him to play like Shaq or something. AD's effect on the court will never visually look like the big men of old, the game doesn't grind into the low post the way it once did. He's playing with 2 ball dominant guys who want open driving lanes, let alone modern spacing on offense - he's gonna be in and around the perimeter from time to time.

On top of that, I don't think he's in form. No injuries, but still getting into season shape. The difference this season is that our team defense continues to be poor, and we rely on his individual efforts on defense.

I didn't want him in the post all the time. I certainly don't want him shooting 3s. His baseline jumper used to be money. Should go back to that. High post/low post. Now 3pt line.
