MONSTER game. He looked and played bigger then everyone else out there. That guy out there was the best big in the league and it's not really close. Should've finished with 40+, got robbed on two and-1s. That was puzzling. Those 3 dunks/lobs that popped out surprised me, as well. That usually doesn't happen with him.

The awareness of where Poeltl was could've been better. He helped and didn't recover or turned his head and that bum scored right behind him.

I don't know if I can endures full season of AD scares. First the ankle and then the knee which looked season ending level of awful based on his reaction. Going to have to start drinking during the games so I don't have a heart attack.

OK, sounds great. No heavy minutes, except if really necessary.

I wish we were resting him. Even if we have to take a L.

Became passive, again, just when we needed him to take control. The dude has zero alpha genes. He literally needs LeBron in there to tell him that it’s time to be aggressive. ‍♂️

    lol the beta stuff again.

    upload_2021-10-28_8-23-0.png

looks like about half his shots came in the paint and a few more very close to it. not sure what people think can happen exactly. you can't just barrel to the rim on every possession, and picking on the only player who appeared to have shown up is strange.

we let the worst team in the league shoot 50% from the floor and score 123 points in regulation. that's a team-wide defensive failure, but we want to discuss drives by one guy.

We didn't lost because of AD.
But he CLEARLY can't run this franchise when Lebron retires. He is a #2 on a contender and will always be. Hope he realizes it soon. And that he stay healthy

eh, we've had this conversation, but i'd love to hear the list of #1 guys on contenders if AD isn't one.

if jayson tatum lost a game (which he does...a lot, btw) against a bad team when his sidekick was this version of russell westbrook (his sidekick is much better, btw), would people respond regarding his beta-ness?

if the argument is that there's only three guys good enough to warrant the distinction and we're mad because we only have one of them, then...ok, i guess. you're right?

There are very few true #1 players on a legit contending team. Bron (we'll see if that's still true this year, but he has the resume), Giannis, KD, Steph, Kawhi when healthy (which isn't often lately). AD is more in the #1b category. Which isn't bad at all, but I'm just saying.

ok, but steph missed the playoffs the past two years. i'm told this disqualifies you. luka's going to miss the playoffs this year, and i'd put him in the #1 on a contender list, too.

and you may have listed guys who most people would take over AD, but that's a really short list. if we can't field a good team around an AD-level talent, then the FO should be fired. NO had a s***ty FO, and that continues to this day.

let's hope our future FO is good enough to devise a winning system around the 5th or 6th best player in the league.

i can say right now that we do next to nothing to help AD be more effective on offense. we constantly have him catch in spots that aren't advantageous and provide no distractions to weakside help when he has the ball. a lot of this is because a) we have lebron and do lots of lebronning (which is fine), and b) we now have westbrook, who gums stuff up by not making himself enough of an offball threat (related to a).

part of it is on AD for not wanting to play center, though, too.

AD isn't the issue this season.

He's been good to great except for the Suns game.

He's a Max Player in this league.

We just have to hope he stays healthy.

other thread made me look at AD's shot chart from last year. if he's going to take threes, it should be from the corners and basically nowhere else. and we can use him like that effectively, imo. he doesn't catch the ball outside the arc unless it's in the corner. and he can dive from there when the ball swings to the other side, either to the elbow or right at the rim. rarely see this.

serious question, this stems from his first moment being a laker.

often times he is wide open, yet he really doesn’t make 3s from what i’ve seen, not even at a respectable clip even if he doesn’t shoot like 5 3s a game…. and for a solid solid midrange shooter, it baffles me.

why do you think he is a poor 3 point shooter?

other than the first gsw game, at least he fixed his FT shooting woes. i always thought he could do better in that dept and he has been. but the 3s i’m not concerned, just curious really.

Maybe he doesn’t put in the work? All I got. He has a decent shooting motion. Gasol (Marc) and Lopez (Brook) learned to shoot them well.

not all bigs have been successful. sometimes it's just a step outside your range.

imo, he's never looked comfortable shooting them. and as he's shot more, his midrange percentage has gone down, rendering both shots ineffective. he was a better midrange shooter earlier in his career.

anyway, as a 32% shooter from three, i could live him attempting those, as it's better than being 40% from midrange, but he's really now a sub-25% three point shooter. just have to stop at that point, imo.

I agree. Him and Westbrook should take the 3 if it's truly wide open shot and it seems like the best option. Other than that, it's just not worth it - you can always find something better. The rest of the team is shooting probably 50% from 3 without those guys.

Maybe I'm making this up but I feel if the first one goes in for him, he looks more confident taking and making the shot.
Once he misses a 3 feel like it gets in his head

honestly don't mind him taking open 3's to break him out of his funk. And with Westbrook in there we need him to be able to hit 3s when he's open otherwise the spacing will be toast
