that equate to dumb to me, you cant shoot well from 3s but take the worse 3pt attempts, theres a difference between stubborn and dumb, stubborn means you practice at it and you want to do better thats why you keep at it as oppose to knowing youre not good at it, dont actually work to improve but continue to do it anyways

If 3 point shooting was all there was to NBA basketball, then the last three NBA Champions wouldn't be NBA Champions. The obsession over 3 point shooting is both ridiculous and not supported by winning hardware. Portland and Utah were both great 3 point shooting teams last season. Where did they finish? Out of the playoffs along with the Lakers and all our better than league average 3 point shooters.

The Spurs won a Championship with Avery Johnson as their starting point guard. Little dude couldn't buy a jumper and shot .111 from the 3 point line.

i'm no fan of bombing threes as a philosophy, but i think you're arguing disingenuously. 3p% correlated .78 with winning percentage last year.

here, i made this real fast so that you can see who's who:

I'm talking about the Finals. For us it's Championship or bust period.

i don't know. i watch the rest of the season, too. and the teams in the lower left quadrant aren't playing in the finals anyway.

seriously, draw a line with a slope of -1 across the middle of this figure, and you have your playoff vs. lotto teams. it's stark.

Look, I get the frustration with Westbrook's shot selection. It frustrates me too. But, I'm telling you he is not a dumb player. He was one of Kobe's favorite players in the league. Kobe never liked Smush, who literally was stupid. He loved Russ. LeBron also gravitates to smart players and he wanted Russ on this team.

is it being dumb if you technically know not to do something but simply don't care enough not to do it?

    is irrational confidence "dumb"?

Those pull up 2's early in shot clock are absolutely killing us. Cannot have him do this

WIth that said - if Bron sits tonight, I"m looking for Westbrook to have a huge night and show everyone why we brought him in.

Definitely not. Although he did take some dumb shots too, it's just who those players are. You can control that to a degree, but if you have a tendency to do it, you'll always be at least tempted to pull up early, or to chuck a shot over 4 defenders.

that's what i was getting at. we need to define terms. i don't think westbrook's dumb (i.e., doesn't understand how things do or should work), but i agree that not all of his decisions are governed by basketball rationality.

Defining terms is helpful. Dumb = lacking intelligence. That's not Westbrook.

Now, if you want to say he is cocky, overly confident, or stubbornly confident, even irrationally confident, then I can agree.

I get it but during our two losses, our defense was atrocious and IMO , the main the reason why we lost.

First time we've really seen him get to the bucket and score at will. Hope it continues.

Give Russ some time to get into his comfort zone. It's going to be a show.

    Great game.

    He only had 3 turnovers.

Frustrated me more than a couple times, but we won!

    That's all that matters.

And more importantly, he is finding his footing.
