Really the only good takeaway from this game. Looked aggressive, played his brand of ball, and looked more comfortable. Saw examples of how this can and will work

    Sample size too small.

But 3pt% of 0 is... impressive.

More than his 3pt percentage, which was always unlikely to improve, is his d****** pull-up 2s. God... I would like Malik to smack him upside his dumb thick head... Jordan style.

Honestly I knew he gambled too much in critical parts of the game, but I didn't think Russ was a bad defender. Wake up call: Vogel has a lot of work to do with these guys

A large part of our defense wears red and white. Annother part of our defense prefers to fight with teammates on the bench.

Great team defense requires players to communicate and know how and when their mate is going to shift and cover. All of these guys are new to one another. We also lost a lot of on ball D with Caruso and KCP gone. Furthermore, we are the oldest team in the League. That being said, I think the D will significantly improve around 20 games in.

Bazemore, Bradley and Reaves have been good on ball. Westbrook and Lebron have gotten some timely stops playing the free role. AD & the bigs are doing what they should. When we add Nunn, THT and Ariza back into the fold, we should have even better on ball defenders.

Our average defence so far can be summed up by two things. Our help defence isn't good enough right now, and a lot of that comes down to familiarity with the players around you. And secondly, we still have guys getting lost on our scheme, and that's also a time thing.

I can't express how important our defence is to looking good offensively. When we get stops, get out into transition and get early offence - we're a completely different team. The half court sets are going to take a while, but we need our defence to come up to level.

As a creator in the first half, he was phenomenal. Then followed that up with the 1 man scoring frenzy. Nice to see him switch gears and not just defer the whole game.

Like you said @karacha , progress. Thought that last game was an improvement and so was this one.

This was by far his best game and he still shot a bunch of dumb shots, needed 15 shots to get 13 points, 9 TOs!, and his counterpart lit up the Lakers. Did the Lakers even try Westbrook on Morant.

That being said this was clearly a step in the right direction and he did make some smart decisions which didn't work out but were the right thing to do like dancing with a big man on him to get a better shot rather then jacking the 3 right away
