I thought I’d get a buck for LT for pimping Lakergifs. Is it this one, Cookie?

I echoed something similar in the player transaction thread a couple weeks back...

I think he'll obviously grow and mature this season, but ultimately I don't think he'll have enough rope to make the leap he needs to make to live up to the expectations that both Vogel and Rob have for him. Not with the wing options we have this season. I think he's probably still a year away.

Whooops, take those blinders off kid. Bet he heard about that one in the “film” session. Yikes.

Exactly what I said earlier. He just gets this tunnel vision instead of finding his best shooter in the corner. Has to work on his court awareness.

He actually was doing pretty well at times this past season with court awareness and passing, sometimes noticeably better than ....

    Great post!

This is why I hope he embraces the defensive stopper role. It’s simpler, less IQ oriented and more effort based. But it allows him a chance to get onto the court and carve out minutes that will let the rest of his game develop.

His defense in the first game was really encouraging. He did a nice job of focussing, staying aware and fighting over screens.

It was nice to see him use the tools we all know he has defensively.

And don’t look now but TNT is looking better. More under control. Starting to hit some 3s. And starting to show off some of his further improved skills from the hard work this summer. Now all of a sudden he’s not looking like he’s a fledgling talent. Putting it together better in only game 2 without the true varsity lineup to help make things easier.

He's so young and has some tools that gives him the chance to be special. Really depends on how hard he's willing to work both on the court and off (i.e. watching film)

You want to see THT play under control. You want to see him build more of a skill set offensively, instead of zig zagging his way to the hole all the time. He basically a pitcher with 1 pitch, he needs to develop more pitches, a step back jumper? Post move? If he doesn't he will be a player coming off the bench for a while.

He’s got a step back jumper that he’s hit well and just like Brons. Definitely would be nice …. Duh….. to add a midrange attack regularly. With his “jukes” and handles how hard could it be?

THT looking like he's making some defensive strides both on and off the ball

Talen is still only 20 years old, trying to develop his game on a team expected to compete for Championships. That's a difficult situation to navigate. The leash for him is much shorter, than it would be on a lottery team or fringe playoff contender. He is also playing with the second consecutive deep roster turnover. I think he is progressing pretty nicely.

That's the thing if he doesn't get up to speed, Lakers could trade him for someone who is, they will explore all possibilities to make sure they win now. I'm hoping to see THT game evolve, he should be working on new things in preseason
