Russ continuing to put the work in on that range

He shot nearly 32% with Washington, if he could get closer to his 16-17 numbers of 34%, that'd be huge. With the better looks he'll get next to Bron, AD and the rest of our personnel, I think it's possible.

His workout vids from his days in OKC are essentially the same. Not to be negative but at this stage in his career or for most players they are what they are. I don't want him shooting 3s unless they're wide open after 50 passes around the perimeter where our other guys haven't had the opportunity first. Drive, dish, midrange, that's his game with an occasional 3 but not 150 a year. If he averages 1 3 a game we'll be a better team for it

Looks like he' barely jumping on these: that's what I like to see. Rondo hopefully working his magic on him: if Russ can turn that 3 point shot around like late career Kidd and Rondo that would be awesome.

    1st game = total destruction.
    2nd game = WTF?
3rd game = really good triple double with some awful 3pt shooting.

People never become better shooters later in their career. it's simply not possible.

Kobe did that all the time though. Dude still stuffed the stat sheet and scored over 20 points. Not bad for an off night.

Yea didn't really want Kidd shooting 3s either. He had a 3 year period where he shot .40% on limited attempts and then went back to being the same shooter he was the last 3 years of his career averaging less then 35%. He was a career 35% shooter. I'd greenlight Kidd over Russ though..

Really good read from The Athletic on how Russ became a Laker

    What stood out...

    - Bron's war room
    - the extents Russ went to to get here
    - how in depth the talks with DD went with Bron
    - GM Bron was working Melo a week before FA

yeah, i wasn't sure of the original intent for posting those stats. some took it as a bad thing, but it looked to me like three stat lines from a very good player who had one bad game, one good game and one in between.

and there's a ton of info in that article jsm posted.

    my big takeaways:

-westbrook tried to get beal to demand a trade? i'd be both happy (that beal didn't oblige) and pissed (that the option was presented by his teammate) if i were one of the 11 wizards fans.
-interesting that the front office had the same basic conversations about hield that we did.
-seems like this source things AD is starting at center. i'm a huge proponent of AD playing center, but not starting there. will be very interested to see how that shakes out.
-still disagree with the idea that all of our signings last year were bad. wes, marc, harrell basically did exactly what i expected and lived up to their salaries. only schroder busted. and that was an opinion presented as if it a report, which is how that assertion shows up every time. i agree with lebron and co. that if we were healthy, we'd have been right there again. given others' injuries, we'd have repeated, tbh.

Thanks for compiling that JSM. Most behind the scenes enlightening yet article. My feeling wasn’t that the author was maintaining AD would be starting at the 5 but rather willing to play more minutes there during the regular season, as we all know he’s willing to do in the playoffs.

Edit …. and I would be wrong! According to Shams, posted by @D-Fish Man in the FA thread.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that Russ was trying to do Beal and the league a favor and get him out of the Washington hell hole too.

Also thought it was interesting and I guess obvious that Bron started at the top of the list with Dame (man, I wish) and Beal and then worked their way down to more targets there was a path way to.
