Hate to say this and random and would like to be wrong …. but when we see those clips of RW and Beverly in each other’s faces like they want to fight …. I don’t have any confidence in Russ winning. He’s not that imposing unless dominating with the basketball, flying through the air or having his mad face on. Of course basketball domination more important.

I dunno, most of these guys don't know anything about fighting. I will say Pat is a coward. That s-hit he did to CP3 (I don't care for him either) was a straight coward move. Gotta respect Rondo & Ingram in that regard lol

Russ would twist Beverly into a pretzel if they actually tangled.

yeah, bevs seems like he's tough as long as the refs are there to protect him. cp, too.

i bet BI wouldn't hesitate to bust someone's a**. he's skinny but tough and kinda ornery.

CP did fire back at Rondo though, I don't by any means think he's a "tough-guy" but he didn't shy away from the conflict.

Honestly my favorite era of basketball is long gone. I grew up watching "Showtime Lakers" and those rivalries with Boston and Detroit left a lasting impression of a man's game lost forever. Rambis catching a McHale close line, Dr J and Bird, PJ Brown and Charlie Ward, Zo Morning and Grammamma Larry Johnson etc etc..

Back than players had to earn their respect and there was a pecking order. Trash talk came with consequences and so did driving the lane. I'm not about guys getting hurt, I hate the injury part of the game. It takes away from teams being at their best and facing each other @ 100% giving fans the show they came to see (I know suspensions contradict this theory but if you've ever played sports yourself you know how your team gets fired up after a scuffle and rallies together along with the fans) but a couple of guys knuckling up to squash a beef made the game better in my opinion. In 99.8% (arbitrary percentage lol but it's probably not far from true) fights there were no long term injuries or even injuries that prevented players from finishing games. Kermit Washington vs Rudy was one of the only cases I can recall and that was a tragedy (I think if Shaq had connected on Brad Miller that might have had a similar affect). Fights allowed the players to police themselves and kept the game in check. If someone did something dirty they paid for that somewhere down the line.

"In my first year, I got into about 13,14 fights. Everybody was trying me, and I felt like when the bullies come and you don’t stand up to the bullies, they’ll keep doing it. I fought back. Rod Thorn would say X, you gotta walk away. I said s-hit, from where I’m from, you don’t walk away from people where I’m from. If you don’t stand your ground, they will continue.

So my second year, I didn’t get in that many fights cuz they knew this dude was going to fight. That’s one thing about the NBA, and they will test you to see how far they can go and if you don’t respond back then, they’re going to keep doing it. When Mike had proved he was great, they started beating him up. But when Oakley came, they stopped hitting Mike cuz they knew they would have to deal with Oak. When Oak left, who was that tough guy? Mike had to play through it. I wasn’t playing through it, I was setting the stage that I belong here, but I’m not going to take anybody crap, and if you wanna start it, imma finish it."
    - Xavier McDaniel

There was no fake tough guy s-hit back than cuz you could get these hands if you thought you were down. 3 piece and a soda coming right up. Teams had a stronger bonds and were really there for each other win or lose because they knew their teammates would be there in the trenches with them when the s-hit hit the fan. That was also before free agency and super teams when teams stuck together far longer. Respect was earned and given in the same breath.

Fighting at the end of the day isn't a good thing but defending yourself against dirty play or trash talk fired teams up and built strong team comradery. Add in also it gave fans a sense of pride of their own. Defense was real and moves like swinging thru on your shooting motion to draw a foul weren't allowed and would be frowned upon by your contemporaries, a league policed by its own.

This was my favorite era of basketball, when it was still a mans game..

I absolutely love James Worthy and Michael Cooper lol

LOL listen to this story from Cooper when he defended AC Green

i don't know if the machismo is my thing, but definitely the idea that tricking the refs into calling fouls for you is an important skill can go straight back to the hell from whence it came.

Yea but that was the beauty of it. Guys that couldn't/wouldn't fight were protected by those that were and the bond that was created was everlasting. Team chemistry was off the charts for teams that were constructed as such. It was so much deeper then just the fighting. Again, let's be honest here, these guys didn't/don't know how to fight anyways lol. It was just the overwhelming sense of connection in the aftermath of the melee. That's what I dug more then anything. Kind of like when a manager gets thrown out of a baseball game and then that team often plays better because their manager went to bat for them and now they're fired up. Love that part of sports

Ceez, I’m somewhere between you and abeer. I don’t like the fighting, but it is necessary to reduce the cheap shots and dirty play against the smaller or more vulnerable players. Just like in hockey. No way do we have the Gretzky we know without a McSorely (misspelling for effect). So I get it. That’s why I love having Dawight back and wish we still had my man Duds.

Just curious, aside from Dawight, did we pick up any extra muscle with any of our new signings? I don’t think so. Anyone know?

Wow that last clip with Rondo clocking CPd*** with the left, he also semi got him with an overhand right … LMAO. Rajon was ready to go after Paul started it with him (did not realize … by pushing his fist in contact with -Rondo’s face.

LOL there's video of it clearly showing the spit flying threw the air, nothing "alleged" about it

at the 15-16 second mark you can see Rondo spit and if not you probably shouldn't be legally driving a vehicle lol. The funny part is you can see Rondo looking around before he does it to make sure nobody important is looking

It won't let me post the slow-mo vid because it is age restricted but there's nothing bad or not safe for work on it

I was sort of joking since Rondo was in full denial mode. But it was a good memory seeing Ingram and Rondo smack CP3 around.

That was so satisfying, especially seeing Brandon going ape**** on the Rockets. Any day there’s a beat down on that franchise is a good day.
