It would be funny if teams started cutting off Woj’s access because of this. Guy is a little pompous a**.
i cant stand Woj tbh...very happy a guy like Shams eliminated him as the only 'source' for breaking news
i mean, it was obvious that that stuff couldn't possibly be legal. you can't nail down the specifics of s&ts before negotiation opens. they need to just get rid of these unenforceable rules, imo. "you can't contact other teams' players". but their friends can. and various other intermediaries that you couldn't possibly contain. last year, they scuttled a deal for it. who knows what they'll do here (highly doubt they nullify the deals because they'll affect too many other things now that FA is essentially over), but as more teams get busted, they'll (rightfully) claim that everyone's doing it. you can't punish everyone and just re-do free agency with stipulations that nothing that already happened can happen this time. edit: so i agree that their problem is more one of a perception they try to uphold. thus, it's the fact that the press gets hold of the information way too early. not sure how to fix that, either, though.
It's a tough situation. Everybody knows that everything is negotiated before, that's why you have 100 signings in the first day. NBA knows it. I think they have this rule for marketing. Because when the FA opens everyone is tuned in the NBA all over the world. There's no other country having the same rule. I think it was Ariza (?) or Melo who slipped that they were contacted before, so we could be on the line too. In this case, they are investigating because they were sign &trade and Dragic signed knowing he would be traded. But it is what is, NBA can't have it both ways. I think they also want to control the media knowing beforehand because that takes out the benefits of having the day FA opens. It would be stupid if they cancel the deal
yeah, lots of teams could argue that their FA would have gone differently, and kyle lowry, in particular, would be back to square one and may not easily find a home. you can't stop it a week late. wasn't the bogdanovic deal stopped pretty quickly? that's the only way. they can just fine these teams and take some picks, i guess. if they remove a 1st rounder or two, teams will definitely notice that.
Any picks that are taken from a team should go to Mitch and the Charlotte Hornets. We know Mitch never tampers so he is like the neutral Switzerland of tampering so should reap the rewards.
Sixers still trying to unload Simmons. Ultimate goal is to land Lillard. https://www.si.com/nba/76ers/news/sixers-rumors-acquiring-damian-lillard-remains-goal
They’re going to hold out on trading Simmons for when Lillard demands a trade mid season. Wonder if they’ll survive with a disgruntled Simmons for that long though
says morey's shill. yeah, we'll see. philly wasn't exactly chemistry city before, and i wonder how much simmons will play ball (literally and figuratively) so that he can help philly get the best possible deal... morey's never learned that you can't just cater to the one star.
Also doesn’t help that Simmons came out and said he doesnt want to play in Portland https://clutchpoints.com/sixers-rum...for-not-wanting-to-go-to-blazers-and-raptors/
more media hit pieces. and simmons is playing it right, imo. he can't dictate where he goes, but he can put pressure on to make it happen faster, and he can scare some teams away. personally, i think he might like toronto and be good there, and i don't see a way he gets to either la team, so if it's true he wants cali, gs is it (sac doesn't count). but gs isn't giving philly anything they really want. philly shouldn't have thrown simmons under the bus for the playoff problems. it's fine to feel that way internally, but rivers's comments were NOT HELPFUL. you can only imagine what else was said and by whom. then he's obviously being dangled everywhere, so he and his agent step in and say, alright, move me then. we're divorced.
Rivers is an idiot. I've read stories about his locker rooms and other players not getting along with him for some of the same reasons.
Simmons has the Lakers on his list...beside our lack of assets, I wouldn't want him here anyways. He is allergic to shooting and seems to have a mental problem.
