what about every other year, though? that was an atkinson team, iirc. i think he maximized a pretty meh player, tbh.
we'll see, Dinwiddie never got the keys handed to him like Denis did in atl....Dinwiddie is exceptional at getting to the basket, better than laker Denis imo
I don’t think he meant it that way. On the cusp of big money (like Cousins) that got derailed and then they never recoup that or get there again. I bet Dennis never gets over 20 a year again that he turned down but if he plays great again somewhere and stays healthy and isn’t a cancer who knows … maybe. He’s got a tough road ahead to get back to what he turned down. Sure maybe he already made money on the house, but it’s a really cool house in LA close to where he was playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
All kind of sounds like it’s Dennis and his agent doing all the talks without Lakers involvement any more.
If we don’t get anything for Dennis, at least he will be the butt of jokes this year about turning down 4/84. Bet he signs that next contract a team puts in front of him.
I had big hopes for Schroder last season. I had watched quite a few games with the Thunder and Dennis was performing and capable of excitement with drives, pesky D and actually a few threes and clutch plays as the padwan of Chris Paul. Let's just say my sig was premature. I guess what Dennis and I have in common is that we both don't have a realistic chance at 84 million dollars in the next few years. I don't feel as much schadenfreude (appropriately German word) for him as other people do, but he is an exemplar for what not to do in an organization, be demanding, cause disruption to the team, turn down a (more than) fair offer, and keep a starting role from noise not merit. It would have been nice to see Dennis even do half of what he said he was going to do when we needed him as our top two faltered last year due to injury. I resent Deng more, I was more annoyed by Danny Green damn it, but this is one of the worse career mess ups I can remember. That being said, he still has a chance to earn, but I think the BEHEMOTH pay day has gone. To further reference Tarantino, as Harvey Keitel said as Mr Wolf in Pulp Fiction "Just because you are a character does not mean you have character" Dennis showed arrogance without dominance this season. And he never, never should have hired Latrell Sprewell as his agent.
I think the most we can hope for is a TPE. C Bags don't have to offer Dennis anything since no one has any money left to sign him for more. And I doubt it's for more than one year since Dennis will want to try again next summer at a big contract. So Dennis has very little bargaining power to ask for a contract big enough to where we get involved.
