i'm guessing his position is that he's a baller and would find a way to be impactful. and that's fine for him to believe. i agree with him that he wasn't really given a fair shot in the playoffs (we just assumed he'd suck). now, was that assumption based on data? yes. really wish schroder would have embraced a bench role. i think it would have saved both.
it's a tough call for harrell. if i were him, i think opt in, tbh. sure, it's possible someone will offer him a 4-year MLE, but that seems unlikely given that nobody did last year, coming off a better season. plus, it may be possible that rob and his agent can negotiate his buyout upon completion of a trade, netting him even more cash, in theory.
Second year in a row and second team in a row his coach basically sat him in the playoffs. I'd be shocked if he gets a 4 year MLE offer at this point. He does have some value to a non-contending team to chew up regular season minutes and score off the bench, but what is that worth in real $$$?
true. right after i posted that, i was like...nobody goes higher than 3 years/20 million for trez at this point. same conclusion, though--he should opt in.
i liked him, but i understand that he wasn't part of the plan. he's gonna bust our a** a couple times a year for sure, and i won't begrudge him.
at least he's out east i'll miss the spark he brought off the bench. seemed like a good guy too. hope he does well in DC
