Lakers might want to hold out on offering Vogel an extension. His offense is horrible. Defensively, he deserves all the credit. But his inability to get the rotations out is just mind-boggling. You call two timeouts and have the exact SAME line-up out there. Why call a timeout and make zero adjustments? I'm not sure how the injuries might've affected his planned rotations but you're an NBA title coach. You need to make these corrections in-game and stop sticking with what doesn't work.
Maybe Vogel can devise an offense that makes players not miss open shots? How bout free throws? I have to watch someone like Dave Roberts attempt to manage a baseball game 6 days a week. I think I know the difference between a terrible coach (Dave Roberts) and Frank Vogel who has tried everything he can to get this team winning through all the injuries ——-Edited—- and having to cater to two stars, one being the biggest star in the league. Vogel switches lineups, switches starting lineups, adjusts offenses and defenses. He tries and is doing his best. Blaming him for AD being lackadaisical is dumb. The reality of this team is they have parts that don't work in the two major fundamental areas. One, is rebounding and the other is creating space in the paint. We will see if this gets fixed before it's too late. But it's on the players on whether they want to do that, not Vogel. NO POLITICS - Barnstable
He's killing me.with his rotations right now. Not just all the f***ing Drummond minutes but when LeBron and DS are sitting that is when you should play THT. Instead with AD out there and 3 and D guys, the Lakers have no dribble penetration threat. It's just another lineup where you hope the Lakers just tread water then a lineup which can attack the other team
Rotations were fine. 3 point shooting was 7 of 26 and free throw shooting was 17 of 28. To put it in perspective, if the Lakers go 10 of 26 and hit 20 of 28 free throws, they win the game. Lakers need to make their damn shots. It's the same story every game. If they do not hit shots, especially when they are wide open and free, they lose. AD didnt help with his checked out game, but the Lakers need to do the fundamentals like making your throws and hitting open shots on the regular.
Missed shots at the regular percentage and it would have just been a closer game. Suns had several open shots and a few fast breaks that they messed up which they likely make next time. So yes I agree KCP in particular missed a lot of open looks the offense on the whole though even taking that into account was a big struggle and the IMO the rotations sucked
I dont know what game you saw but I didnt see a lot of iso ball. I saw a lot of passes to open players who missed open shots.
iso ball cause Bron iso to get those looks for other guys, same with Ad, iso ad everyone else stands n watch
Completely went away from our best starting lineup and went more than 10 minutes in a row with a non spacing lineup in the 3rd . f*** HIM
yeah, we have a lot of "AD thinks he's KD" stuff around here...well...if you put him on the floor without anyone who can make plays for themselves and others, he sort of has to be KD. and no, it's not his strong suit. i do think people sometimes poo poo the idea that simply making good, open shots is kind of crucial and makes offenses look worlds better. the lakers have had plenty of these games over the past two years, just haven't had 4 in a playoff series...yet.
AD did not do his job. why is he out in the perimeter guarding Jae Crowder in the first place? Jae Crowder is a catch-and-shoot player. AD is a top defensive player in the league. having him cover Jae when Ayton is dominating is a waste of his talent.
Too many players who can (or look like they) contribute . Lack of practices and injuries didn't help . The way he's f***ing things up with the center rotation is inexcusable though .
Can’t complain about the rotations tonight. I thought overall Vogel did a good job in that aspect. But what is going on with Cameron Payne and Deandre Ayton absolutely tearing up the defense for easy bucket after easy bucket? Why does it seem that Ayton has twice the amount of open dunks as AD has field goals? We have to have an answer to that from an X’s and O’s standpoint.
Mainly running off Suns from the 3pts line and Booker from midrange . I do not agree on choosing to concede dunks to him over forcing Payne to shoot floaters over the bigs though
He can be stubborn with his rotations, but he also is very willing to make changes and adjustments like we saw with McGee and Dwight last year, and now Harrell and say, McLemore this year. You gotta do what you gotta do to win, and he certainly is willing. That’s one reason I never get too down on him, because he’s not incompetent like Mike Brown, a self deprecating aw shucks idiot like ‘Antoni, a stubborn jacka** in his foxhole like B0ron, or in over his head like Luke. I know it can be so much worse, so I do like Frank.
