I wish we could have just split the extension money we wanted to give to Schroder to AC and THT.

You make it sound like it’s not still an option? Unless you mean already have them inked without having their chance at free agency, then yeah would have been nice but not likely.

Well, idk. I'm not a cap expert lol, but those two definitely deserve huge raises this off season.

THT if they use the Arenas contract will be around that for 2 years maybe a little less, then jumps to 2 years max possibly for his time in the league. AC may command more from Lakers or elsewhere, hopefully not. (that rough 12M figure each, splitting what Schroder wants)

He reminds me of Fisher in this way, much better defender overall obviously, but in that he is just a winner, he makes things happen, he finds a way to help contribute to winning. That’s what Fish did, big shots, taking a huge charge, he was a gamer.

The expectation around the league is he gets those 25 in 2, most 3 years.

He could command 8-10 mio.p.a. IMO. Same with THT probably.

He is the best guard defender in the league and the numbers show it. However, to our advantage, for some reason (dorkiness, whiteness, baldness, whatever) he still did not get named to the all defense team this year. Some player contracts are artificially inflated and they never live up to the $$$. Others, like AC are artificially suppressed and they outplay their contract $$$.

if we could sign both for the MLE or less, that's a huge win. i think there's near zero chance of that. we'll have to exceed MLE on both (well, THT would require an offer sheet to get there) just to cut down the list of suitors, tbh.

Caruso might get really paid on his next deal.

He's basically Tony Allen defensively that hits 40% from free. That's super valuable.

Aren't those numbers though if he were to seek the highest paying contract, seriously low, when it's been pointed out what elite 3 and D wings are going for these days? Elite D .... check. 3 point % upped to a consistent 41% this year .... check. Shooting might even keep improving. On top of all that .... his mental game.

That 3 year figure I'm sure you didn't mean averaged down to 25M over 3 years .... 12M a year for 3. But still that is underpriced. Aren't these guys up around 20 per? Not saying he should get that, but he probably deserves more per than Kuz at 12 because he is more consistent in his play every game, even if he gives a hometown discount. Especially when he sees what THT is going to be paid in years 3 and 4 if they lock him in with the Arenas deal.

He's better at this age than Fisher was at just about everything. Remember that Fisher didn't start becoming a decent 3-point shooter until his late 20's/early 30's. I have confidence that Caruso will improve from behind the arc and end up being just as good as Fisher from three. Add to that the fact that he can finish in the paint and he actually plays good defense unlike the fake hustle defense Fisher played, Caruso will end up being a rich man's D-Fish.

    It's a thing.
    -20 +/- Schroder
    +4 +/- Caruso

1 game yeah, and Schroder got fouled a bit to offset the bad shooting night but the Eagle was a bald nightmare defensively.

At the end, “can they maybe share the floor?” (vs one being more effective than the other)

DUH. Not like they don’t frequently. Of course just typical “talk show tact” .... there. Good discussion though and acknowledgement of what we all saw and are saying today as well.

BTW .... where’s the guy that came in saying he liked AC .... but “didn’t get all the hype”?

Maybe now, and has he not been watching all along?
