Can't have shots at the rim and space to attack with another traditional big on the floor .

Can't expect him to go KD from midrange in every postseason .

Waiting for a whole half to put him in the best conditions isn't acceptable .

Sure he went Gasoft in the 1st half but still ...

One of the worst halves of ball I can ever remember from him, zero energy, very little effort, not getting involved, thank goodness he got mad. He really is better at center though, I think he and Drummond do not work, Drummond clogs the paint and AD stands at the 3 point line.

yeah, i don't get it. he's an mvp at center and a mere allstar at pf. why he's constantly avoiding it, i don't know. i guess worried about injuries.

tim duncan was the same way for most of his career, btw. he just played in an era where you could get away with him playing pf on both ends.

^the problem isn't so much "banging with other bruising players" because they barely exist anymore.

I assume most people don't like their spots on offense as you can't easily face up, they barely run plays for you, you are usually not positioned very well and you can mostly taken out to set screens etc...

Its "less fun" to play C.

not sure about that first part. that's the narrative, but look at the starting centers for most teams. just go down the list in the western conference:

    gobert
    ayton
    jokic
    zubac
    nurkic
    dallas plays small
    m.gasol/drummond
    valanciunas
    gs plays small
    poeltl
    stephen adams

that's a lot of size at the 5. most EC teams play a true big at the 5 to start games as well.

so i don't think it's a myth that smaller guys can get pounded if they start at center.

but you should be able to start at c against smallball teams, no problem. could have started AD at the 5 last night and not gotten down 10 basically right at the jump ball, imo. and you can't tell me that's about familiarity. these guys have barely played together, period.

and there's no reason you can't feed AD at the five as if he were at the 4. philly does with embiid. denver runs the entire offense through the 5.

oh, and didn't catch the end of the game until now. lebron's shot was nice, but why is nobody talking about AD disrupting every shot after that, including blocking curry's three and stealing the final inbounds?! good lord those are huge plays against probably the most feared offensive player in the league.

Yeah, it actually is amazing that our Center was way out on the perimeter guarding the hottest guard in the league and completely dominated the moment.

It was just such a crazy up and down game, and that last few minutes was so nerve-racking some stuff got lost. In the moment it was clearly obvious how good AD was playing on defense, there was a play sometime in the 4th, or maybe late 3rd where AC and AD were hounding Curry on the perimeter, there was nothing lost with AD switching onto him, Steph could go nowhere.

I thought from the camera angle it could have been called a foul on AD maybe having contact(?) with Curry on the inbounds pass, thank god it wasn't.

AD clearly wasn't a fan of scrubs like poole and toscano running their mouths like they'd already won

glad those two lit a fire under him

Bad first half but monstrous second half for the win. He locked up Curry on the last inbounds pass too. I’ll take it.

Yeah he saw Wes getting screened down low and immediately turned around to guard Curry. GS had no chance. That split-second decision making is really something.
