Was thinking about that this morning. Rose is making $7.5m now. Anything between that and $10m a year is a great deal. Knicks will be under the cap, so they can take on more salary. S&T both. Rose can get a ship and DS can get his money. Rose next to Trezz (don't think he leaves) and Kuz off the bench is one hell of a crew. Rose isn't the defender that DS is, but is 3x the offensive player and play maker and knows his role. We don't have to start him to keep him happy. Next to AC and in Vogel's system, I think he's fine defensively. It's really incredible how his game has evolved and grown after all the injuries and he's still can get to the hoop against nearly anyone.
What do we have to also take back, or do, to give DS his 25M or whatever before trading him? To make the discrepancy in salaries come close enough to work?
Let's see. He missed some games due to a concussion. Random. Had a hard fall on his back and spine. Random. What else contributes to your theory considering how hard he plays and is willing to dive on the floor, constantly take charges and sacrifice his body .... that he gets the tag injury "prone". Whatever happened to his toe had to be random. (See Andre Drummond injury) More accurately would be his style of play puts him at higher "risk". Same as how Schroder plays. Would you want him to play any other way? We will undoubtedly have other players including THT capable of playing the point IF this is how the FO wants to go.
It was a small sample size, but based on that game against Sacramento where everyone was back, I think I’m in agreement that Caruso fits in better with the starting lineup. But still, I can’t wait till Schröder comes back. I feel like our fanbase’s opinion on him as swung too far in the negative direction, based on our frustrations with the Covid stuff. But man having him healthy as another weapon who can push the pace and attack the rim? That’s exciting to envision considering how well everyone has already started to play recently in his absence. EDIT: Well I may have got my wish, as he just posted “I’m back” on IG a few hours ago, so seems he passed protocol maybe?
Glad he's back. Hopefully he doesn't have any covid hangover and can jump right back in. Going to need him to chase around Curry, probably. P
Guess you've missed his "decent" mid range game all year? And occasionally hits some big shots from 3. Good from the line. But let him walk, hell yeah, for what he wants. Unless Rob can find some way to get something out of him leaving that makes us better next year with a deal? https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/schrode01.html
Can Dennis be as good as playoff Rondo?? I hope so. When Bron sits, he should be in at all times. Speaking of Rondo, while he has done well with the Clips, interesting that the Hawks took off after that trade. New coach have more to do with it? I think so. But they are better now than they were with him.
He isn't a point guard. He is the Kurt Rambis of guards. The only issue with AC is, he is soft physically.
one of the benefits of him turning the money down is he now has to perform in the playoffs if he wants that max 4 year contract. My hope is the Lakers told him, if he doesn't take the 20 mil per, that offer is off the table even in the summer.
He might be better as a scorer, but that's it. Rondo's IQ is off the charts. Not calling Dennis dumb but I don't think, oh he could be a good head coach one day when watching him. Nate has the Hawks playing their a** off. Lloyd was a good coach and great for social causes but players didn't love playing for him and wouldn't run through a wall for him. Namely, he and Tre had some fundamental differences. Surprised Nate had to sit out and take an assistant gig initially anyway. He's been one of my pipe assistant coaches for awhile. I think Rondo would've done well with Nate down the stretch. But who are we kidding. Hawks aren't playing for a ship anytime soon and they did him a solid. Unfortunately that meant him joining the tenants.
