i got a bunch of flack during the offseason when i lamented that we let go of both dwight and javale. this team needs a rim protector like them and we finally got one back with Drummond. marc gasol has his strengths but anyone thinking he was gonna be the answer has hopefully stopped talking that talk now.
Just a friendly reminder of what to come. Remember this guy is still learning and hitting his prime. I'm sure with more mature high iq players around him will do wonders
Wow when I heard about this 2 days ago I told my dad, this guy is the perfect fit for us in terms of what we lost from last years roster. I am so stoked he decided to come to LA but it makes sense. It is championship or bust again this year..too many major players can bail next season. I don't see how we could sign Drummond even if we wanted to. Schroder, Trez, Drummond, Caruso, kief, THT and Matthews can all hit the road. Rob is going to be shuffling his feet once again, we'll see if he can pull off some more miracles. We are already @ 113+mil with just LBJ, AD, Kuz, Gasol and the Deng 5mil, $123mil if Trez picks up his option (which hopefully he will).
We landed the best player to hit the buyout market. A massive 27 year old who's yet to play his best basketball and is the best rebounder in the league. That's about as good of a rental as you can possibly imagine. Sure, he has some shortcomings. There's a reason he was bought out. He was the best player on some really bad teams, being asked to do way too much. You simplify it for him and put him next to two hall of famers on a championship team, he's going to look really good. Vogel has done really well with bigs, I think he'll get Drumm a really nice payday this summer from his next team. Not what he was making (that was outrageous), but probably $15m a year, at least. Frank has to start figuring out minutes. I think Marc and Morris become largely situational. They'll get some DNPs moving forward. Small ball teams, Morris will get some burn against. And then Marc will see time against Denver, Minny, Memphis, Philly, and the like. Out of the two, I think Marc will find more minutes because of IQ, passing, and career status and I think Kief will see more minutes at PF than C now. But I'm thinking 10 minutes max for either on any given night. I don't think Trezz's role will be changed at all. First big off the bench and focal point of that unit. But Dre was brought here to start. I think he'll get at least 28 minutes a night. For a coach, there's much worse problems to have. We have options and can present a lot of different looks. All of our bigs bring something different and unique enough to scheme differently against.
Lakers can play fast or physical. I like how they can play any style of games if need to be. AD part 2 gives them an added dimension, can change the team's identity of play. It was like Howard last season, but better imo.
As long as Frank doesn't do something asinine, like playing Trez and Drummond together, we should be improved.
