So as a recap, if AD is out through the (erstwhile) pointless All Star break, these are the games he'll be out:

    @ T Wolves
    Nets
    Heat
    Wizards
    @ Jazz
    Blazers
    Warriors
    Suns
    @ Kings
    AS Game

NBA hasn't released the post AS Game schedule yet, so can't say who he'd miss if it went past that.

If we win half of those games, we'd be in great shape. I wouldn't even be upset if we lose the majority of these games. I'd rather Frank focus on getting these guys valuable minutes so that when AD comes, they are ready to step up if needed.

I agree. Hell, even if we fall to a middle seed and don't own absolute home court, no biggie. We're a better road team as it is this season. So far:

    Home: 8-4
    Road: 12-2

No pressure to dominate. Use this time to find the best rotations, pairings and match ups for when it counts.

So is he still dealing with Achilles tendonitis? Or is it just the calf strain that's causing him to sit out 4 weeks? Either way I hope he takes as much time needed to heal 100%

I think they are basically one and the same. Glad that everyone is taking the conservative approach and that he will sit out at least a month.

I'm glad he's out four weeks. As I noted before, Achilles tendonosis is not that big a deal, and it's easy to rehab/recover from. But you absolutely need to give it rest. I don't now what they were thinking bringing him back so soon in the first place. Give it time, come back healthy and strong. Nothing matters more than being in shape for the playoffs.

We won't win a ring unless AD plays at a superstar level in the playoffs. Hopefully we don't see a dropoff like we did in Pau in 2011 playoffs.

I hope he's using this time to get mentally and physically right. If he needs to be out until mid to late April so be it (I believe May 16 is our last regular season game tentatively scheduled for the 2nd half of the year)

    ^^^^ Don't worry Cook isn't on the team anymore , it's unlikely he'll steal AD's girl

I like how he's stepped into he coaching role trying to help out while sidelined. I haven't seen that from him any previous time he's been hurt here or in NOLA.

Great to see he's still engaged--another opportunity to lead in any way he can.

Lakers are 6-1 without AD. Without AD, Lakers are still a top-ten team. With a healthy AD, Lakers become title favorites. Simple as that.

I’m thinking AD may only miss another 3 -5 games. 2 more this week and after the ASG we play March 12th. He got hurt on February 14th, they said he’d sit a month and we play on March 15th, 16th and 18th. Depending on his rehab we may see him back in that stretch.

just as long as he's 100% and no less

if he needs to sit out a few more weeks to get there, so be it. bring him back any sooner and risk another KD situation

Absolutely. No reason to bring him back before he's ready. As long as it takes. But I am intrigued that he might only miss another handful of games as per the original diagnosis of resting for a month. Or less potentially. The ASG break timing really helps in that regard.

In the meantime we still have the second best record in the league and are only 3 games behind Utah for first. All the while we went through a brutal 4 game skid but here we are! If AD can come back in 3-5 games, look out league. If not, with Dennis back on board we should still do well and win the majority of our upcoming games until AD returns.

I wouldn't even be upset if he comes back in April. Should give him enough time to get back into basketball shape by the time the playoffs start. All it would take is AD getting his injury re aggravated and we risk losing him for the playoffs.

I agree with you guys - he should take all the time he needs. If it's a month, it's a month. I don't mind at all, because I don't want our superstar (for years to come) to develop an issue where he needs surgery and an entire season off to come back. Make sure everything is 100% good to go.
