Would be nice if Rob could find a playoff team that has someone we need they don't need too much and could use Wes and the trade worked. Get Wes to where he could play again and be into the playoffs and we get a useful player back that we need.
I disagree. Wesley Matthews is a versatile player who the Lakers would need if say, Caruso or KCP get injured or are struggling. Look at what he did in both games back-to-back while not getting consistent minutes. There were a few plays where Wesley would guard Horford and play him really well defensively. Al Horford went 0/3 in those possessions. He made a clutch 3 that gave the Lakers breathing room after no one could make a shot. I don't think we can find a player that can replace Wesley. One of those situations where he makes too low $ and has crazy good value. I'm sure a ton of teams would love to have Wesley but nothing we can realistically get that would make sense.
Just was thinking against all odds a larger “no” 3 but D wing maybe like people are always pining for. Since we’re not likely getting a larger wing with the 3 attached to the D. Or toward that desired “rim protector” besides AD. udleyshrug:
Can't really trade him since he does not make much. He provides a lot of bang for the buck, but he needs to play. I don't know, it's like everyone's 3-pt shot tanked at the same time with the exception of Bron (who seem to be an exception for everything that normally happens in basketball) and Wes. Therefore, let Wes play and contribute until guys like KCP, Dennis & Kuzma can fix the problem and until AC is not banged up anymore. Like, I'm not expecting guys to shoot 50% for 3, but 38-40% should be the norm for them, and Dennis can at least try to get to 36%.
Such a key shot in last night's W. He had himself a very good 2 game series against OKC. No way I trade him. We don't give up a strength, not this year. Depth is an asset even if the players want more PT. With covid, injuries, compressed schedule, shooting slumps exclusive to Laker players, and the bubble hangover.
wide open for the chipI still haven't forgotten that travesty. Jezzz the guy has only one, one job to keep his job and failed
Had a respectable, solid stint last night. Drew a foul off a trey attempt. Canned them all at the stripe.
Didn't fill up the stat line, but it was a vet savvy game for him. The hesitation on the 3 attempt, his steal, and block. 3rd highest +/- on the team against the Grizz
This guy needs to be shooting 4-5 threes per game. I don't understand what the purpose of him being there is if he's not shooting threes. 1-2 threes per game is an absolute joke for a shooter of his capability. Frank needs to tell him to stop being so passive. He's passing up too many opportunities. I like his defense and hustle but he's gotta be more of a threat offensively. I'm not sure if Frank isn't looking to get him more shots or is just okay with what Wesley has been providing.
Man i knew he was open watching the game but on the replay he was wide open. Great play design even though he missed
I just don't trust his shot and I don't remember him shooting like this in the past. Seems more concerned about getting the shot off as quickly as possible rather then making sure his feet are set. So rushed out there. Earlier in the season things got better when he got benched for THT: time to revisit this
I’m to this point disappointed in the signing. I just don’t see him finding his role so far, I never know what we’re gonna get from him.
He’s struggling. So is KCP. Our guards I thought we’re going to be one of our strengths. Disappointing.
