Please just sit the guy and let him heal up for a couple weeks. We added all this depth for a reason, so AD and LeBron could make it to the playoffs with less wear and tear.

This is a bummer but not entirely surprising. AD's first finals run on a short turnaround. Bubble and covid is difficult, etc. This also reminds me that LeBron is a freak of nature. But hopefully we are in a stage where he can prevent a major injury. The definition of tendinosis (medscape): "characterized by intrasubstance disarray and degeneration of the tendon", usually happens at the wrists or achilles. According to the same source, outcomes should be good but it's mostly rest and physical therapy that will heal AD up.

Let's not forget Draymond is represented by Klutch, his presser was likely a soft breaking for the news that AD has an achilles injury that isn't a tear. The news is came out on the night of the Super Bowl too.

Rest AD, sign a center, and turn Kuzma/Harrell loose. Hell give Cacok minutes too.

They should rest him for 2 weeks. Until all his nagging injuries are gone. Let kuzma take AD's mins and bring back Morris to the second unit

Would be nice, right. Tennants load manage from the first game of the season. I wouldn't mind if AD rested for a month and Bron played every other game.

    What Draymond news?

Also.. if it's MORE chronic, would that not mean it's not going to heal up?

i'm not an MD or PT, but reading this makes me think he'll be fine...if we don't play him for a while.

I think it was Saturday during a post-game presser where Draymond had a question about the bubble. Basically said that dealing with covid and the restrictions is difficult, and that "he won't name names" but he's seen guys who are "out of shape, who have never been out of shape before" (paraphrasing). NBA reddit and twitter all speculated he was talking about AD.

They finally decided this was the best course of action. As many of us were saying weeks ago, even without knowing the specifics. The man needs some rest. Use Kuzma and Trez and win plenty of games.

right. it's been very clear he's not 100% (or even 80%). if we drop a few games it's pretty small in the grand scheme of things: where you're planning on building the next 5 years of the franchise around this guy whose achilles tendon you're stressing.

Sit him for a couple weeks. See this is what we have been saying all along, he’s not dominant because he’s not right health-wise. That’s it. It’s not that he’s turned into 2012 Pau or LMA. He is playing hurt.

it's been painfully (no pun intended) obvious that AD's been playing hurt

sit him as long as needed so that he's 100% for the playoffs. they'll lose some games along the way but his health is far more important than finishing with the #1 seed or the #3 seed

Sounds to me like this Achilles diagnosis isn’t the singular injury he’s been playing with this whole time, but rather the accumulation of wear and tear from him pushing through a variety of other small injuries.

It’s been a concern of mine that AD seems self-conscious about his previous reputation as being injury prone. The rep against him from his NO days was that he would frequently have to leave games or sit out a few days from minor injuries. He’s publicly talked about that since becoming a Laker about how he’s wanted to disprove that narrative. Like he must feel like he’d be letting down Lebron to sit a few games with a “sore hip” so he’s going to be a warrior and push through any pain.

That mentality is admirable when we’re in the playoffs. But this year, fresh off the championship run and shortest off-season ever, it’s just not wise. The regular season doesn’t matter much at all and we have the depth to withstand his absence anyways.

Hope leadership in the organization steps up and makes the decision to rest AD for at least a few weeks. Even if he wants to play and claims he’s fine, make him sit and heal up.

If I'm the Lakers, I sit AD out until post All-Star. This is a great opportunity for Kief, Trezz, and Kuzma to step up.

yeah, we're a deep team. we're not as good without AD and will lose some games if he's out, but think about the long term and the big goals. i know the organization isn't stupid, but i feel like they've been trying to let AD control his narrative to his own detriment. they need to come out to the press and say that they're shutting him down against his will, even if they privately agree he needs to sit.

They really need to shut him down so he can heal AND ramp up for the playoffs. Just do it now.
