He's doing the same thing with Melo that he did with Zo on the Lakers and Melo of course will be the same .... not have the balls too to tell him to STFU. Let him speak and play for himself. Of course this s*** is not conducive to chemistry on the squad. Let him pay his short dues for crissakes and eventually the coach will start him. If HE feels it's time.

    https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/lavar-ball-claims-lamelo-isnt-214047309.html

During a recent interview with TMZ Sports, LaVar let it be known that his son feels like he should be starting and it's not sitting well with the point guard.

"My thing is he ain't happy with that, but he ain't gonna show that," Ball said, explaining that 'Melo is too much of a team player to let his emotions disrupt the chemistry.

Ball went on to state that
all of his sons are generational talents and should be treated as such.

    Gelo too .... eh LaVar?

Bleeping hate saying that looks like LaVar was right with seasoning Melo in Lithuania and Australia, and b****ing this year about him not starting. Major props to the kid.

    https://lonzowire.usatoday.com/2021/03/06/lamelo-ball-news-record-2020-rookie-charlotte-hornets/

Look at his numbers at the bottom of this article coming off the bench and then since starting.

    https://lonzowire.usatoday.com/2021/03/03/lamelo-ball-rising-stars-challenge-roster-2021-hornets/

And of course Mike is happy with how well he’s doing.

    https://lonzowire.usatoday.com/2021/03/05/lamelo-ball-michael-jordan-rookie-hornets/

Barring the unforeseen Melo’s a lock for ROY.

he's doing well. though i'm not sure it's clear vindication for lavar. one could argue he screwed up the older one so that the younger one could learn from that.

seriously, he managed to maneuver him to their dream scenario (lakers) and then really burned the whole thing down, in no small part due to his problematic off-court influence.

i think lonzo's fairly unimpressive start helped lower the expectations for lamelo, and it's easier to play that way. no way that the mental pressure wasn't the reason lonzo made shaq look like steve nash from the ft line.

so anyway, sure, lamelo is clearly doing well as a rookie--basically playing the way we were promised lonzo would--but to say lavar is the reason...i'm not willing to go there. even if it was the seasoning outside of the college game, that was an accident caused by his meddling in the first place. like stepping on a rake only to have it endow you with special powers.

Agree. Didn’t mean it to exonerate LaVar for his outrageous behavior and the bad choices he made following his dream that negatively affected all 3 kids. Lonzo as you mention with the dream Lakers scenario and between his ears. Melo ripped from HS and Gelo ripped from scholarship college experience because of LaVar’s ego. Was mainly referring to once it got to that point it seems in hindsight that for Melo playing against older players and men in pro leagues had to have helped. And much as he was doing the same s*** all over bagging on the Hornets’ coach for not handling his kid right (same as he had done to Luke for not playing Lonzo 38 minutes a game in spite of his fragility and flaws) and not starting Melo way before it seemed at the time he was ready and while turning the ball over and being weak on defense this young to not offset that .... that once Melo did get the chance to start he’s pretty much exceeded everyone’s expectations. Except LaVar obviously. But as well that’s always been his schtick for promoting all the sons, even Gelo who’s not at the other two’s higher level of skills.

I agree. If LaVar had a fourth son called LaBozo Ball (BBBB Big Baller Brand Basketball) who could not play a lick of basketball you know LaVar would have been still playing the hype man and claiming he was a basketball savant, he speaks things into existence (which got the third brother some attention and the bumped Lonzo into the top 3 of the NBA draft). It is just the matter of the stopped clock being correct and Lamelo being the goods. Lamelo never looked this good in Australia, and the improvement has been marked, which shows how important better teammates are and also how much players can change in those first few years playing adult pros. The decision to send him overseas to those two leagues is something that will be an influence on upcoming players. LaVar walked away intact from that shoe debacle and to be honest that could have buried most people. I give him credit for maximizing the talent of his sons, and putting them in the position to achieve. Yes I think allowing flaws to exist in their shooting was a critical error that surely should have been fixed, but you will always get that with a one-man-band, Joe Jackson/Richard Williams (Serena and Venus' dad) type of an operation. LaVar needs to step back and let the GM's run things. He has done all he can and needs to for his kids.

LaVar Ball did a great job with those kids. Say what you want about him but a ton of young kids need a father like him. And the way LaMelo and Lonzo handle themselves in a professional setting is very mature for their age. LaMelo is only 19. Only a matter of time before he becomes an All-Star.

Did Warriors screw up with their pick, or is Wiseman going to be as good as Lacob is claiming, or just trying to cover his a**? Personally I thought LaMelo would have been too light and fragile this year like Lonzo was, but all the international play seems to have really helped him. The wrist injury could happen to anyone in a fall like that.

wiseman is a young big, and they can take a longer time to develop. he's right that edwards and ball wouldn't have had as long a leash in gs, too. but he could have just avoided discussing it while expressing confidence in his guy.
