We need to unleash THT on the NBA benches out there where he can wreak the most havoc as a ball-handler and his confidence will just grow. Let Schröder be the one that is playing off-ball guard quite a bit with LBJ. He's probably better suited for it. Probably will reign THT in a bit come playoffs but you never know.
Schroder, Wes, Caruso, THT, KCP...our guard rotation is amazing. And our two best players are neither one guards.
Haven’t watched yet but found this. https://moorebasketball.com/2016/06/21/how-it-works-the-gilbert-arenas-provision/amp/
i didn't realize all that about the arenas provision. it bodes well for us in the event THT has a break out year. it's moot otherwise.
it's kinda crappy for the player, as it basically penalizes you for not having much experience. i guess they worried about a weird case in which someone could, in theory, hide themselves, skirt the draft, get signed by whomever they want, and then make more money than they would have had they been selected #1 overall? i don't know...i'm sure there's a reason, but it isn't obvious. works for us this time, though. again--assuming it matters.
Damn. He has it, for sure. And, he can be a PG. He is calm. Doesn't rush. Sees the floor fine. Has nice handles. I think, if he is given time, he's gonna start by next year.
Final numbers for THT's preseason games: 20.5 PPG 6.5 RPG 3 APG 2.3 SPG 55% FG 54% 3pt FG 90% FT 66.8% TS The 3 point %, FT %, and TS % really jump out.
i don't know how to manage it, but you basically have to find a way to get him 20mpg. i don't know who sits.
yes, but right now, that's nobody. maybe schroder i guess, but i'm certain he has no interest in sitting. again, good problem, but a problem. you want to make sure people aren't grumbly.
I just don’t think we can do those kinds of minutes for THT even though he’s great. It’s a championship team that’s stacked with vets trying to repeat. The great news is he’s ready to go when he does get PT.
Don't forget though how impressed with him and behind him Vogel is, by his own words. Said a couple months ago at that practice during Finals to Dan Woike, that he was going to wind up having to start him this year. Maybe not that, but look what he's doing with minutes, so Frank is going to continue giving him minutes.
In OKC, they had 3 guard lineups they played a lot of the time in: Schroder, Paul, and Shea; against certain teams, I'm thinking you can play a trio of: THT, Caruso, and Schroder. I think THT and/or Caruso can guard SF for spurts; it does cut into the SF mins, but it does give THT some time in the floor, you have multiple playmakers, etc. I'm not sure if it works, it's just a thought. Either way, we might have to get creative to find time for this young man.
