Not sure we want to do that. If he continues like this, he actually makes KCP expendable. THT can't play the 4 like Kuzma. Kuzma is a 3/4. THT is a 2/3.
KCP is just a great fit because of his cutting, shooting for this team so I don't agree with this. What makes THT is scary is his handle and vision look like a PG. You put a stout 6'3 guy with a 7 foot wingspan at the PG with AD, Lebron, Matthew, KCP/Caruso and that is a frightening defensive team to go against. I would say the two guys I would be worried if I was their agents would be Schroeder and Caruso. Schroeder's agent if THT continues to show this kind of potential isn't going to have much leverage with Pelinka
Yep Schroder is on alert. I like his game a LOT. But I didn't love the way he came in saying he wanted to start and that he was done with coming off the bench after OKC. Caruso shouldn't be too worried because he's such a solid defender and plays incredibly well with Lebron. Plus I think we have Bird's rights and I don't think he will gouge the team financially on the next contract. Schroder on the other hand gets paid big money ($15 million) which I'm not sure we will continue to pay after this year, especially with a young THT on a cheap contract with huge upside and Klutch representation.
Kind of like Rembrandt was a good painter, Michelangelo was a good sculptor, Ali was a good boxer, and the Spartans were good soldiers.
Great game by THT. Loved what I saw on defense. Active. But...... Let's remember it is preseason. If he's doing that early in the regular season teams will plan for him and that is when he will prove his value. As it stands now, he's our 11th man. I hope he can contribute on a semi-regular basis. Anything more is a bonus.
he converted a lot of the shots he was creating and missing, and he wasn't getting torched on defense (a couple of nice iso steals, too). that's basically as good as i thought he could ever be, so to actually see it is pretty amazing. he's earning looks, but i'm not sure how to make it work. play him at the three? anyway, good problem to have. if he can play like this with any consistency, it's basically adding a star to the roster.
Only athletes I've seen that have THT body are outside linebackers and defensive ends in football. Never seen 6'3 guy with arms long like Shaq play basketball. He is the first. No one to compare him to.
This and I'm impressed with his decision making when asked to play the point. Some pretty solid decisions setting guys up or scoring when he had a mismatch (gotta love the look on Patrick Patterson's face when THT makes a couple plays on him). I'm surprised with the amount of moves/looks he has when he drives into traffic, and how calm he is when he's there. A lot of players for their first few years run into traffic and just create contact. THT has shown he can do some side steps, finish with either hand, and pass from different angles. 2nd year or 20 year old players usually don't show this kind of awareness and tempo.
I would imagine it is painful in practice for Shroeder if they ever match him against Tucker. 175lb against a 2" taller 230lb truck with your moves coming at you. And defending you. Because he wants your job.
barkley was a little more powerfully built, but had the same long arms, shiftiness, explosion off the dribble. barkley was so rare, when you think about it.
Doesn't suck at 46 in the draft if ^^^ that were the case. The Eric Gordon comparisons wouldn't suck either but I just checked and Wiki has Gordon at same height 6'3" and only a puny 215lbs compared to THT. Don't know about Gordon's arms. But he always impresses with what a physical guard he is and how hard to defend when he's moving.
