Really ecstatic to see THT ball yesterday. Play making was a pleasant surprise. Agree he was misplaced on D at times, but felt his insane reach and energy can be harnessed potently as far as defense goes. Destined to be a spark plug to add to an electric and super exciting bench. I think his ability to get to the rim is strong, and he is not far from finishing a lot of plays. We may have found another Caruso in terms of an underdog fan favorite who can contribute big time for us. I feel he can have a Shannon Brown type impact for us but THT is more aware of his team and can be tempered to dial in the D. Really so hyped for the season. From now on THT is Dyno-mite.
When the baby fat turns into muscle he will absorb contact and finish better around the rim. He's got the foundation to be a very good player. Add a floater and more experience on the defensive end and this kid is going to do well for many years.
I didn’t watch the game, but exciting to hear one of our young players developing and having the potential to play a serious role in the rotation.
He's a year away - but that's with respect to probably moving up in the rotation and maybe possibly vying for a starting role depending on growth...referring to next season. Right now, I would agree with Dudley's assessment - "15-20 mins a game and starting some night LBJ is off..." He got burned defensively a handful of times, but that's where I'm most intrigued with him; he's 6'3" with a 7'-foot wingspan, and I'm thinking he can eventually guard 1-3... NBA player? Yes. Starter or bench player? That's what we'll have to figure out, but he's only 20, and the upside is there...
THT will need to drop weight and eat, sleep and drink basketball non stop. If he does that, he has a really good chance to improve and have a shot at being a Caruso type effect on the team.
Another G league win also. If you draft that young, you really have to be able to develop them a little longer before they are ready.
Why LeBron James, Frank Vogel and others are raving about Talen Horton-Tucker https://www.yahoo.com/news/why-lebron-james-frank-vogel-154231602.html
Smooth, can stop on a dime, nice touch on his shots, good passer (when he sees the opp). Defensively can/should improve. Saw the same things during his limited action in the playoff run. Gets run over during celebrations...
Counterpoint to the idea that we should make him a more prominent part of the rotation: maybe we allow him to continue to slowly develop at the end of the bench so he remains “hidden” from the rest of the league, and we can lock him up for cheap next offseason? Instead of giving him just a big enough role that raises his value and encourages other teams to poach him from us. I’m thinking similar usage as we gave Caruso two years ago, leading to similar contract that we gave Caruso. Counterpoint to this counterpoint: Dude has serious potential. Maybe we just throw him into the fire and he ends up becoming the kinda player that we’d actually be happy to use our MLE on next summer. Counterpoint to all these points: Just one preseason game, let’s chill
that was my opinion, too. if you just watch archie goodwin move around the floor, you'd think he could be a star, for example. how the play ends matters.
Horton Tucker will brought along slowly as Kuzma tries to/will play for a bigger contract here or elsewhere...
Just read that Kawhi Leonard asked Wes Matthews during the game how old THT was. Players on our team have already been talking about him. Now the legend grows...
Damn!! ^^^ why don't all our players do that? Have never seen it pointed out before. All the sense in the world. Here's what he said about last night's game .... just a great young attitude. “It was a blessing and a great opportunity getting the start tonight. I just wanted to come in and fulfill with what they wanted me to do. That was great for me,” Horton-Tucker said. “I appreciate it. It was a great experience and great opportunity for me to have early on this year. I just appreciated it. I felt good out there.”
he crossed up PG bad last night with a really good behind the back move, but didn't knock down the subsequent 3. had he made that shot, wed be seeing it everywhere. definite good things to come
