I did not that that impression after the interview. It’s interesting how we can watch the same video and have different conclusions. What made you feel like he was responsible for those moves from what he said?

They asked him about Pau Gasol and he basically gave a very GM-like answer rather than a player-like answer. But I don't think it's any news that Bron is pretty much just as involved in the team function as Rob is.

Shows how much LeBron respects the franchise and Rob. He would never do this for the Cavs this late into his career. Next offseason, we still got Bron. Nothing to worry about.

I have been very critical of him but man he's earned my respect big time since he came over.

    1) Signed in FA when we had no stars
    2) Leading the franchise during Kobe's passing
    3) Now signing his extension.

Major props. Hats off to him for committing in a time where being flaky is common.

I wonder what went into this??? AD re-signing?

I believe 2023 his son is graduating and I am sure he wants to play wherever his son ends up.

This is the most accurate and clear info regarding the contract extension.

Since LeBron is signed for this season and a player option for the next, it's basically LeBron agreeing to another year since I doubt he was opting out next season.

Aligns with Bronny... Hopefully Lakers can somehow get that Bronny pick.

I wonder if this is a bat signal of sorts to Giannis or other superstar FA's next summer (CP3, Blake, Kawhi, PG, etc)

Me thinks LeBron is going to whichever team Bronny will join so if that's the case, Giannis will have the Lakers by age 29 with a 30 year old AD. LeBron likely follows Bronny and retires after breaking KAJ's scoring record.

Do you guys remember when Kobe signed that huge extension before the 2013-2014 season? Jeanie, Mitch, Jim and the Lakers brand took a lot of hits from us fans and the press but it earned a ton of credibility from players especially Lebron. We are reaping the benefits of it right now. Short term we sucked like crazy but long term it did turn us back into a title contender for multiple years and making this a desirable destination again for superstars

I don't think that's the same here. Kobe just suffered an achilles injury that likely meant his career as an elite player was over. LeBron is coming off an NBA title and led the league in assists. Kobe, after getting that achilles, was never going to get that kind of money from any other team whereas LeBron could've gotten every team in the NBA to give him a max next offseason. I do think players see the Lakers as a top franchise for treating their star players appropriately and with how Rob treated Danny Green by letting him know that the Lakers may move him and that he will hear from them before it happens, the Lakers have set a nice standard there. But I think this has more to do with LeBron showing the Lakers that he is in it for the long run and trusts that the Lakers can help him stay competitive rather than the other way around.

Had no idea this was even being discussed. One less thing to worry about next summer.

Now time to start working on securing that 2023 #1 pick without sacrificing roster talent.
