It always gets me how NBA players look superhuman playing against normal mortals in a pickup game.

I was thinking exactly this. Although some of those are probably college level players.

I remember when Brian Scalabrine was on the radio one time explaining how he ran into some pick up game dudes and because Scalabrine is this dopey white guy in the NBA they thought he wasn't that good. He proceeded to destroy them. Then I imagined what a KG in his prime would do to YMCA players. Then I thought, what would Kobe or Jordan do to those guys, haha. The levels are so astronomically different its almost super human.

yeah, and those aren't even "regular" gym goers, as you could see that many were approaching his size--which isn't small. his ballhandling on the fly for someone that size is pretty impressive. and his handles don't look strong in nba games. shows how much the speed and size and experience of the opponents makes you shore stuff up. when i played in hs i always looked more mechanical than i did on the playground, i think, for the same reasons.

College players and some international professionals against an NBA Finals starter. They did not have a chance, really. Imagine how Bron would look like in that game.

I would start AC over Shroeder. He/Lebron have the best +/- in the league in regular season, playoffs and especially finals. Don't want to mess with that.

Shroder can be maximized as the primary ball handler with the bench unit

I really hope it works out like that. If Schroder is ok with not starting, Schroder + Trez + Kuz + KCP would be a killer bench punch.

On the one hand I think AC would be nice to have as a starter but on the other hand, I'm kind of leaning towards something similar to last year with starters being: KCP, Wes Jr., Lebron, AD and Gasol. Having two shooters on board with that front court should work really well. Last year we had trouble with spacing with McGee in the starting role, but with Gasol the spacing and passing should be fantastic. Gasol is so good in the half court offense. I think we could stagger the bench so AC is the first guy in for either Matthews or KCP.

that was my initial thought, but i imagine we'll see a few things tried over the course of the year, especially early, just like last year when it took a while to figure out the guard rotation.

Lebron, KCP, Kuzma, AD, Gasol should be the starting lineup. Schroder, Caruso, Matthews and Trez off the bench is 50 points a game, hahahah. Man, teams are so jacked when the Lakers play this year.

Hell yeah. The Eagle and KCP starting together would ROCK defensively and offensively.

Plus that 6 man bench including THT with Schroeder at the point and Harrell at center might be the best Bench Mob in Lakers’ history?

I’m thinking AC should start just because of his connection and synergy with LeBron. How better to get off to a good start to the games than starting with those two?

I don’t know if I care which of KCP or Matthews start since they are basically the same guy with different defensive strengths and liabilities. I’m guessing KCP starts just because of familiarity with the other starters though. Switch to Matthews when playing the Kawhi’s of the league.

I’m fine with Harrell starting since AD can protect against how Harrell typically gets abused defensively with AD’s weak side help. Harrell’s energy and motor from the jump of games will also help us get off to good starts. More chances for putbacks as players miss shots as they warm up in game.

A bench of Schroeder, Matthews, THT, Kuz, Morris, and Gasol looks super dangerous for the league.
