Well I did, but only because Pelinka was on. It was part of my “we just won the ‘ship, I need to soak in every interview/media appearance from our champions!”
I don't think Shroeder would start. He'd be in the role Rondo had, comes in for Lebron at about the 5-6 min mark.
I think he will. He was reportedly unhappy about not starting in OKC. Article mentioned he would have that opportunity here. I have no problem with that. We could use another playmaker in the lineup and he can shoot off ball. He's better than Caruso in those respects. From ESPN article: Schroder finished runner-up for Sixth Man of the Year last season, becoming a key component to one of the best combinations in the NBA, a three-point-guard lineup alongside Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Though he excelled in his role, averaging 18.9 points and 4.0 assists, Schroder was never shy about his desire to return to the starting lineup and the Lakers are poised to give him that opportunity. ESPN's Royce Young contributed to this report.
Reading what Schroeder said and the headline, they have completely different contexts. Based off the quotes. It looks like, from the Schroeder quote, that it sounded like he said he never ASKED to go to the LA teams not that he didn't want to go. Unless I'm reading it wrong or Schroeder told someone something else, his quote sounded like be never requested to go there not that he wouldn't. Am I wrong in reading it like that?
Definite upgrade and fills a huge hole we had last year in the backcourt during the regular season. It's amusing that coming to ATL, he was being compared to and the hope was he was the next Rondo. He turned out a bit different and never excelled defensively, but now he's replacing Rondo. I like it for the fact that we flipped DG's bum self for who some considered to be the 6th man last season. I don't like it for the fact that we used our only trade chip for him when I would've preferred to address a perimeter upgrade and then use the min for a cheap PG. seems like he wants to start and we'll extend him... interesting. We'll see how the rest of the roster rounds out before grading this one.
How are we the first team practically announcing a deal before free agency starts, and what’s it going to cost us lol? This is def not the norm. Feels weird, but Rob has 200 plan B’s already figured out. We should be in good hands.
I am very glad to have this signing if it works out to be our pick and Danny Green. Schroeder was a very useful player who I took note of last year. He fills a need for us with his ability to drive, and he was able to make big plays when the Thunder was doing their umpteenth come from behind run. So officially, I like Schroeder a lot and am glad to not have to pretend that I like a signing or convince myself it will turn out well (like Mozgov, dung or that brow guy AD (oh don't get me started JK). I would like Gallinari a lot and think he could flourish here. Schroeder means no crippling CP3 trade I think so good to dodge (I mean CP3 played amazing last year and would enjoy him here but contract and injury history means no. Derozan (I never saw him play well for the Spurs and sure he would be option #3 but I was less warm on him) I would hope for AB, Dwight and for the Legend of Playoff to continue in the Purple and Gold, but am resigned to see things playout. FINALLY, so jubilant to see us in freeagency with two Superstars, chemistry and a championship for leverage without Kawhai hamstringing us and tying a hand behind our back. The Robstar is now FULLY OPERATIONAL!
Must be that "trades" are OK prior to free agency? And yeah as far as taking care of business in advance with FAs undercover seems like we can be sure Rob's not going to be left behind there either like Mitch was / still is? Plus why can't he just have Bron or AD reach out and gauge interest with targeted players we would like. All the other Stars seem to be doing it in plain sight.
OKC..... I don’t think he ends up there. He’s worth something as an expiring contract to somebody. But 15 mil you owe the guy!
I absolutely LOVE this trade. I’ve liked and wanted Schroeder on this team for years. He’s a really dynamic player and a pure PG, can play for some years with AD, can shoot the 3, and we're not giving up much for him. This trade is 100% win for us IMO
Yes, that is why I said Lakers should just keep Kuzma. Once Danny Green gets traded, we can't match salaries and get equal return for Kuzma.
