he's definitely earned something besides the crying emoji, but let's see if he sticks around or not. Might be a one and done.
Dwight has probably done a lot of physical damage to his body over the years. I would think it really comes down to how much he is ready to do it again (including those terrible mornings waking up in pain everywhere). He has made his money, has a championship and is a first ballot hall of famer as far as I am concerned. There is nothing left for him to prove. With that being said, his defence on Jokic in the WCF might have given him a feeling that he can still play a serious role in the league. I also think Dwight cares about his life and profile off the court. Where this might play into our hands, though, is the same reason he eventually joined the Bubble. He used his NBA platform to continue promoting messages to the community.
Dwight probably has like 2 more years in him as the role he's playing for us right now. I'd welcome him back, for cheap.
Something tells me another team will cough up the MLE for him If that happens...thank you for your service Dwight. But I think I'd be willing to pay him half the MLE if it came down to it and if AD/LeBron say we absolutely need him
Definitely. I don't know exactly what he is thinking, but he has found some stability here and let's be honest... Dwight made more than $250 million in his career. He might not be about money at this point. Unlike Rondo, who is looking for that last decent contract, Dwight could easily just retire. He might want to play for us one more year, and if it's a 1-year contract, I'd pay him a reasonable amount.
Definitely don't expect money to be a factor for Dwight. Like I said, he's turned down a shoe deal so he could keep wearing Kobe's. He donated his bubble earnings. At this point, it's about his hall of fame resumé and how he's perceived by the people and his peers. We give him the best chance of that here. He's made $131.9m more than Rondo and that's just on the court. I imagine there percentage made off endorsements is equally as large. Don't want to lose either, but I like our chances to keep Dwight.
Really hope he re-signs, and on the cheap, like vet minimum cheap. He saved his career, maybe even NBA legacy here, I don’t walk away from that to an unknown situation if I’m him, I run it back here.
well GSW dont have much more $ to offer, theres no way theyd offer the full 3yr MLE to him, so all thats left is the vet min like us
I'd really like to keep Dwight of the guys we are talking about. He's earned it. Rondo would be nice to bring back but if the money is too good elsewhere I get it. KCP I would also like to bring back. We have his Bird's rights so we can do it and I think if it's not a crazy contract it's extremely worth it. He's a starting guard for us for sure. Rondo might be a luxury since he sucks and gets hurt in the reg season. Playoff Rondo rules but not enough to break the bank.
They actually have less than us to offer. They only have the tax payer MLE of $5.7m whereas we have the full MLE of $9.3 (and we have the BAE). I think there's going to be a lot of moves in GS. Between their pick, Wiggins, and their $17m trade exceptions; so their finances might change between now and free agency. But currently that's what they're working with. But if we even get into a price match contest with their $5.7m, they can have him.
At least. But the difference is probably a lot more in endorsements. If it's close between us and GSW, I think he'd prefer to stay with us. I don't have a problem paying him a little extra if it's just a short-term contract. It doesn't make much difference to the Lakers at this point.
BUMP .... what are you doing on page 2 Dwight? STAY. Please. But this probably won't help. Shaq never got over the "Superman" thievery maybe? https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/shaq-blasts-dwight-howard-bandwagon-182158890.html
shaq is still salty over the superman thing from like 2008? that's pretty pathetic dwight played a key role in the denver series and shut jokic down for the most part
