https://lakersdaily.com/lakers-dail...-life-lebron-james-and-teams-championship-run we say it a lot, but what a find. every team could use him.
Unless it's Bradley Beal or someone of that level, I don't think we should even think about moving him. Like if the Pacers want him in the package for Oladipo, we can't do that deal. Here's the other thing. He was here before Lebron for a couple short stints, and he played a lot last season during that stretch Lebron was hurt. He played great in those stretches too. So he's not like half the Cavs roster that is only worth something if Lebron is there. He has shown to be a good NBA player without Lebron. The only part that Penberthy was wrong about was comparing himself with Shaq and Kobe to Caruso with Lebron and AD. They didn't give a flying f*** about him while Lebron LOVES Caruso. And Caruso is a far better all around player than Penberthy.
oh hell no. it's hard to find guys that play winning roles happily. you're right: better be a bona fide star. yep, and others saw it. i think our rights to him will help scare off some offers in the future, but it's plain as day what he brings. i laughed at that, too. let's not rewrite history. you're both kinda goofy looking white dudes who won a title with big-name laker duos. the similarities end there. kinda cool that penberthy must have impressed the organization enough back then to still be around now, though--so good on him. but don't steal eagle's shine.
Does anyone else feel like I do? I love Caruso's game but it's obvious once he becomes a free agent, he will fetch a lot more money than we can give him. I'm glad he'll be able to get that well deserved moolah but it will be sad if he signs elsewhere.
If he has another standout year - I don't see why we wouldn't try to keep him. We'll have his bird rights too if I'm not mistaken? Or partial?
i believe we'll have full bird rights on him, so as long as we don't renounce his cap hold (5 million ish?), we can go over the cap to keep him.
Speaking of The Eagle ..... and OKC https://www.yahoo.com/sports/alex-caruso-guys-stuck-g-150028546.html ..... that give you a little shiver at first?
I disagree. His best stretch ever was when Lebron was out with a groin injury. His intangibles are ones that aren't necessarily reliant on Lebron. He isn't hitting tons of open shots from Lebron drawing the defense. He plays hard nosed man defense, and he is an excellent team defender. He gets to places on the offensive end where he can make a play that other people don't see. Caruso would be a great role player on any team. He isn't Dellavedova. He isn't just out there grinding hard. He's got legit talents and a very high basketball IQ.
